Earl Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Monsters don't have much intellegence, they wander about randomly attacking players they perceive as weaker. What I'd like to see is a zone on a map where monsters gather, for example around the snake column in Naralik. In this zone the monsters continue their wandering but not leaving the area, that is until a certain number criteria is met, for example the zone is for goblins and when 4 goblins occupy the zone they feel more confident. Then can now leave the gathering zone but now with red names, they might stick together in a group or scatter as usual. So on some maps a monser spawns, and wanders around until it's killed or finds a rally point. It then waits at the rally point, until it's killed again or until enough of it's friends arrive. When enough monsters are at the rally point they enter the red name state as a confident aggressive force. Then they are killed off one by one, maybe by stupidly attacking a high level player, maybe because the low level players called out for back up. The monster respawns again back to wandering around as usual. This wouldn't be on every map or for every kind of monster but when the monsters gather they trigger their own invasion. Feasible? Fair? Fun?

Scorpius Report post Posted September 30, 2006 That sounds like one of the best suggestions so far It would implement some tactic into the gameplay.. for High Level AND Low Level Players (depending on the monsters that can gather) *Thumbs up* Fabi

ville-v Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Maybe if monster group is big enough and doesn't find challenge from original map it would go to raid other maps

ville-v Report post Posted October 1, 2006 easy fix is to multi the map? In fact we could change all maps multi
trollson Report post Posted October 1, 2006 In fact we could change all maps multi Agreed. Never been particularly happy with the distinction. Although the reason is clear -- some areas a safer, gradual increase in danger for beginners -- it could be handled in different ways (in the monster AI, number, frequency, and density of spawns etc). Pack or group behaviour is also covered in the recent Ants thread (IMHO better approach).
