draegox Report post Posted June 2, 2007 I know there's a lot of references in EL, but I don't think anyone has ever tried to document them. These are the ones I can think of offhand: 1) the fluffy rabbit from monty python 2) the grue from gamer lore 3) the death messages from the parrot sketch 4) the death message from south park 5) smeg from some old tv show (red dwarf, no?) 6) the message you get upon entering a certain house in dp (holy grail again) I must admit, some of these (grue, smeg) I had to look up on Wikipedia </sheepish> If you have any others, post here with what it is and where it's from. boognish Report post Posted June 13, 2007 No More Tears is a song by Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society I'm pretty sure this was a slogan for baby shampoo first.\ "I eat dead people" is likely a reference to that movie where the kid says "I see dead people". Entropy Report post Posted June 16, 2007 I eat dead people = pun on sixith sence = I see dead people Actually, it is taken from Warcraft 3 (the Necromancer (I think) says that when you click on him multiple times). Of course, that's a pun from the 6th Sense.
boognish Report post Posted June 27, 2008 I think the new "one" perk is another reference to a Metallica song, based on the movie "Johnny got his gun" where the guy got blown up by a land mine.
forever Report post Posted June 27, 2008 Not really an ingame reference. I found it strange though xD Monster magnetism Keeps monsters from you :S when i was a n00b back when I started, Isenguard told me to get the perk. I was like "no!! I r not gonna get attacked!" xD it was pretty funny.. *searches for ingame reference*
TirunCollimdus Report post Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) Grues first appeared in gaming in the first Zork game. They actually made night vision in a later Zork game so that you could think it was safe to travel in the dark but since the Grues hide in the dark whether you can see them or not you still got eaten. pr0!! The Zork guys though got the idea from Jack Vance's "Dying Earth' stories. I had to read Monster Magnetism before I understood that you were actually made attractive to monsters so as to not be attacked. kinky? Peeves Report post Posted June 27, 2008 Not really an ingame reference. I found it strange though xD Monster magnetism Keeps monsters from you :S when i was a n00b back when I started, Isenguard told me to get the perk. I was like "no!! I r not gonna get attacked!" xD it was pretty funny.. *searches for ingame reference* Magnetism works both ways. I think the new "one" perk is another reference to a Metallica song, based on the movie "Johnny got his gun" where the guy got blown up by a land mine.Aswell as the wraith saying "I don't remember anything" which is lyrics from the song. And the perk Harvester of Sorrow which is another 'tallica song. Sorry for double post but Metallica ftw.
