Entropy Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Stalag came up with the idea of sending SMS notifications when there is a special day. I think that's an excellent idea, and we are looking to implement it. Doing so requires some SMS gateway, and the first I found is this one: http://www.clickatell.com/brochure/index.php So if you are interested in this service, enter your phone number in there, and see if you get an SMS. Please post here if you do get an SMS or if you don't get one. Note that some providers, especially in the US, charge for incoming SMSes. This service will cost some money, say, 10-15 USD/year. So let me know if you are interested.

Mango Report post Posted October 19, 2006 I voted: No. Whenever I dont play this game... a sms wont change that. Its not like when I sit in college, and hear about this sick scholars day, I take first train home... But maybe others do so . Idea is good tho, just nothing for me . CelticLady Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Works for me. I'm in the US on VirginMobile I don't think I would use this cause....I'm always playing. I think it's a good idea though for those that care to know the day before they log in or whatever.

bkc56 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 I use the Gossip bot to e-mail me about special days. But I agree with others here, if I'm not playing (because I'm at work or something), knowing about the start of a special day probably won't change that. Good idea, just not something I'd take advantage of.

Placid Report post Posted October 19, 2006 I personally don't feel it's worth it for just Special Days. Perhaps if it provided news announcements or even a way of subscribing to other services, such as contest announcements, guild info, game stats. I dunno, but I think it needs to be used for a lot more.
Cleo Report post Posted October 19, 2006 I agree with Placid, Maybe if it told you when a Invasion was happening or if anyone on your Buddy List is online, or even if there is a new update that needs to be installed...
gorzki Report post Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) Hi i got an idea: it is checked, that you can apply game status into any messenger, like icq or skype i.e., you just need to create an account, everyone could add this account to their messenger, so they could see the game status of course it's free, so no one needs to pay for it greets - gorzki Edited October 19, 2006 by gorzki
Sheesh Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Worked for me Sprint USA But I can just picture me standing in an aligator infested swamp and I get the notification. The message alone, would probably set the aligators off and make me their next meal. May be good for some, but I do have a life away from EL as well.

Aislinn Report post Posted October 19, 2006 It didn't work for me, TMobile USA But if I'm not here, it's because I can't be, so this service wouldn't matter to me.
MagpieLee Report post Posted October 19, 2006 I thought gossip was expanding his/her service into the sms market niche. Didn't know EL would do it too!
