Articenens Report post Posted April 29, 2008 cuz if enemy is close they 1 hit you and you break your arrows rofl.. they are on your back.. why even make it destroyble ;< not any different than when training on monsters every attack is almost guaranteed an arrow break, but its not like its a big loss if one gets broken... LochnessLobster Report post Posted May 9, 2008 I just found out that higher perception = less exp in ranging. I'm abandoning this skill at this point.
majestyk Report post Posted May 11, 2008 I just found out that higher perception = less exp in ranging. I'm abandoning this skill at this point. If you think about it, this sounds obvious - better perception, target is easier to hit, therefore less exp. A shot which is more difficult to succeed should give higher exp. Besides, this doesn't even work different than other skills - raising coordination above a certain point always results in lower exp during fighting training, too. Cyprom Report post Posted May 12, 2008 I just found out that higher perception = less exp in ranging. I'm abandoning this skill at this point. Are you sure? Source? Rehdon I tested yesterday, shooting someone in PK twice under the exact same circumstances. I just took off my Night Visor for the second shot. Result: - With Night Visor (+30 perception): 16 exp - Without Night Visor (normal perception): 18 exp I don't know if it is calculated in percentages or if it is always -2 exp for using Night Visor. My conclusion though: You do get less experience for higher perception, but you should be able to hit more from a greater distance, which makes up for the exp loss. I'd say you even get more exp than before (which should be the case with that 50k item imo )

LochnessLobster Report post Posted May 12, 2008 I have high perception. I can't take it off like a night visor. I can't see any farther during the day than anyone else. Is the experiance I earn during the day equal to someone without high perception?
kibora Report post Posted May 13, 2008 I seem to get less xp per 100 arrows with night visor during day time
DHT Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Question (or more like test of an idea): With lower perception, you get higher exp, while with higher perception, you get lower exp. But, isn't it so that with higher perception your chance to make a succesful shot increases? Example: Without a night visor, you get 18 exp, but hit (let's just say) 40/100 shots. With a night visor, on the other hand, you get 16 exp, but hit (again, let's just say) 60/100 shots. How much true is there in my statement? Because it's not like I'm going to be able to buy a night visor anytime soon to test it
RubenVincent Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Hm, I tryed this with potion of reasoning/potion of wildness to get higher perception, but I noticed only less xp, not more hits.
Jezebelle Report post Posted August 24, 2008 After getting to level 17, I lost the fun in this skill. Its not realy bad to have a ' hobby' skill thats expensive, and i mean the arrows..but when you break 3 bows on one day..it becomes a very, TOO very valuable hobby-skill! I didnt range to level, or get experience, or even gather the meat and bones and such, it was meant to get away from day-to-day ' work' like potting and alching..but now..i stop..its not relaxing anymore.. PaulB Report post Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) I will continue with with this skill for the simple fact is that I love it. No matter how much coin I "dump" into it or the little drops that I do manage to get. For me this is one of the most fun skills to work. PaulB *EDIT* Also a simple word of advise.... Take your time with your shots. If you time them properly you will hit way more than if you just go nuts shooting. Ateh Report post Posted August 26, 2008 (edited) with the right tactics and numbers , ranging will soon become a new dimension to PK. have you seen the nasty effects of the crossbow bolts ? mana burn, cooldown lol admitted - rangers on thier own are pretty useless but combined with melee fighters , will be fast and efficient killers once there are high level rangers. rangers will back up melee fighters in a big way, its just going to take some time and player co-operation. PK in EL is going to change alot once people start looking past full red dragon armor and thermal serp as the only way to PK. Theres two other skills mostly unused in PK right now, ranging and engineering. When it clicks that these two skills will add to PK tactics, PK might even revive itself from its thermal serpent sword stagnation. *edit* corrected my posture, was slouching in the chair Edited August 26, 2008 by Ateh
