The hydrogenium

Personally the idea of useing a sword to harvest is straneg but perhaps adding a new item of a stronger specialised pickaxe might be a more role playing way to go.

Except it doesn't use up all those s2e's which I think is the point.

Can you honestly say this uses up the swords, or just creates an incentive for more market flood?

I'm not saying it will work, just that I believe that is the idea behind it. To provide a reason for manuers to make some of the middle range swords (this of course combined with the summoning). And yes, I do mean incentive for more market flood. It's a way of levelling up without filling up storage and going broke.

so we just have to change the bars in dns formula by one s2e and everything will be fine

And don't forget that entrance is PK for EVERYBODY. PKers won't sit there and waiting for defenseless miners, they'll probably attack one eachother, so you can make your run through the scramble unscathed...

I do not know all the guild politics in the game, but here is my take.

(1) The PK guilds have trained themselves to beat the crap out of anyone, while Manu/Alch guilds have not. This means that, yes, while the PK guilds might fight eachother on this map, they have a distinct advantage in getting a guildmember into that mine.

(2) PKers can only carry as many s2e as you (probably less due to armor), so they either take the "harvest" of s2e from your corpse and go back to storage (or sell it back to you) or the db bag disappears. Even if they leave the db alone, I am guessing that no one will be able to run fast enough from the underworld back to retrieve it. Or they grab your swords and give them to their guildie harvesting the hydrogenium in (1). The PKers then control the hydrogenium market and make the best armor/weapons for themselves further tightening their grasp on the resource. Oh, the drama.

(3) Lag. Lag lag lag lag lag. Let's say that you have 10-20 people (PKers) camping the mine entrance. Guild X decides to make a coordinated assault requiring 40+ guildies to get a few of their best harvesters in there. I hope you all have good network connections. I am sure/hope the novelty of camping this spot will decline, but it sounds like massive concerted assaults might be required.

I was actually thinking that perhaps some essence could be used in the mining
Yeah, how about air and earth essences? Or maybe fox scarves or something else that has no purpose currently.

BTW, I thought MrMind was quiting. :icon13: Too bad RICH cannot manufacture Rostos, right. ;)

Umm....small but relevant point which seems to have been missed...not all pkers will have instant access to this map, as i very much doubt that once the hydro is harvestable that its location will be revealed to everyone.

So, once it IS located by a player it will become a jealousy guarded secret, meaning that there will be less of a risk to that players guild whilst they harvest it.....

Less danger from enemy pkers, and more chance of monopolisation, if the player who finds it has the sense to keep his/her gob shut about where it is

I am seriously looking forward to this coming into play. Not only because it gives a viable outlet for current s2e on the game but for future ones as well, coz not everyone will use them for summoning/training. As to the storyline being needed for s2e, i am glad to see that at least one player is taking the initiative to create one that gets s2e as a viable tool. My own thoughts on this score was something along the lines of a sacrifice of the sword in the name of the Manu god in order for magical help to have the rock relinquish its bounty of hydrogenium. But whatever works tbh....

All in all this is a good way to improve/boost the economy for both present manuable s2e's, and the required bars and the future hydro related paraphenalia. Fair to middlin, ent, keep it up.

LOL..good idea... I will get all of Dao to turn up... 200 people crammed into the cave :icon13:

Everyone naked with no items except the three or four harvesters.... then you have to guess who is harvesting... and who are just there as sacrificial lambs..

You will still need a pickaxe though. It seems that many of you have little clue how mining works. You need the pickaxe to get through the rock matrix in order to get to the mineral/ore out. You do not use a pickaxe on copper. You use it to break up the rocks around it. Just because you click "on" the ore does not mean that you are hacking at a chunk of gold with the pickaxe. That would not help much and would only yield smaller quantities.

So the pickaxe (a regular one, not special magical titanium) would be needed to break up the rock, and the swords would be needed to ... remove the oxidized reactive exterior layer for storage and transport.

unless it's comming w/ a completely new map on C2 there's only PK area i know of that fits the description of where it will b. unless there are other PK maps w/ heat dammage that i haven't found yet. will b interesting for PKers too because plate would do them more harm than good there.

Reasons for Hydrogenium

-Add more pk in the game -> give people a reason to go into pk maps because no one will go there when the pk system is unfair

-Create some middle-expensive items -> game needs them

-Take some s2e out of the game -> Because people have no good reason use them we should find some way to get rid of them

-More people in c2 -> good

-Add some danger to harvesting -> interesting idea

But as I said in my other post, I fail to see things in the creative perspective, so what doesn't work for me would make perfect sense to some. For prices, I just keep getting the image of Bush's approval rating graph.

And yes, I do mean incentive for more market flood. It's a way of levelling up without filling up storage and going broke.

Lately I haven't seen alot of s2e's being advertised on market. Probably because most people don't use them. So either A: Manufacturers aren't making many (like myself) for B: they are just sitting around in storage because they generally only sell for 350gc each and would cost alot more to manu. With that said, I saw more people wanting to buy them yesturday than what was available. I am sure part of that is just the initial frenzy and will calm down in time.

At least on initial view it seems to be helping get them out of people's storages and to have found a use for them. Not to mention that the price immediately went up to around 500gc each. Some people tried to sell theirs for more, but I don't know if they were successfull or not.

Now, as long as they are required to mine the ore, and as long as it stays that you lose one on every attempt even if you are not successfull then there should be a decent and fairly constant demand for s2e's. If not only to mine the ore, but also because people got pk'ed and lost the ones they had. Eventually supply may outweigh demand again, but anything that helps to use a generally unused item is alright by me.

As for a reason to use s2e..well, I haven't given that much thought. I'm not a writer, I just ramble (ask my guild mates on that). The only loose reasoning I came up with was that upon initially trying to mine the ore with with a pickaxe the miners found that the surrounding rock was too hard. When striking into the rock it broke the wood handles of the pickaxes. One of the miners happened to have a s2e that they carried for protection on them and they drove the point of the blade into the rock in frustration. To their surprise it embeded itself slightly into the rock. They began to wrestle the blade back and forth causeing a small cut to form.

When realizing that the blade was better suited for removing the rock they started jabbing the blade in again and repeated the process until they had outlined a section of rock. The next step was to cram the blade as far in as they could and pry out the section they had cut around. After the process was finished they realized that the blade was completely dull, bent and essentially useless now. They did however have a small piece of ore that came out with the slab of rock. Upon seeing the glittering Hydrogenium ore they ran back to grab as many s2e's as they could carry and set out to mine more of this precious new ore.

I am wondering now... When the cause of s2e to be useless is because the fighting system is glitched so that there is no benefit to using them, why is a new demand being created? Perhaps if the cause of the problems were being considered then there would be no need to keep adding reasons to use items.

People bought the swords because they wanted to.

Harvesting hydrogenium by making disappear 1 sword each ore isnt definite (i think). Anyways, till this thing is up to be "playable" will take some time, maybe few, maybe a lot.

This will help ppl increase their own skills instead of paying paying paying for swords. If they see that harvesting hydrogenium is so expensive, then, they should do themselves the ingredientes and stuff.

All things have a bad and good consequences. And to be honest i think this idea isn't that bad.

That kind of strays off the topic.....

And from what I have seen the fighting system isn't the whole problem on why alot of weapons aren't used. It is also the way the players look at it. Getting more xp not using a weapon. Which is actually debateable. I have a guild mate who never goes hunting without the best weapon he can possibly get me to make him. He goes and finds the toughest monster he can kill with it relatively safely and hacks away. I on the otherhand will use a weapon when I first start with a new monster. Beginning with ti short, then to steel long and finally down to a bone. I skip the other weapons, and end up using no weapon until the xp gets too low and then I move onto another monster. There are benefits to using weapons, atleast how I see it.

The point isn't just to find another use for s2e. As you have mentioned, you aren't the most creative thinker. Let others run with their ideas so this game doesn't just end up being the same as all the others. Not everything has to be logical, not all new ideas have to have a story behind them before they are implemented, and not everyone is going to like all the new ideas. I'm not saying don't voice your opinion if you don't like the idea, just try to take other people's creativeness into consideration and try to help the issue instead of pick it apart. <---just my opinion and not just directed at Mr.Mind

OK here is the tactic

You summon 100 rats or more - whilst these are engaging the PKers/lagging them out you guildies can get through and then you run like hell.

It will only be highly populated because of my rats :(

i got an idea of the damage it causes

"A miner has broken a hydrogen gas hole in the cave while harvesting beacause of this gas all people in the cave has been poisoned and the gas did 30 hp damage on all players in the cave."

this is like the radon pouch thingy but much powerful then it is..

and about special magical stuff that can be found in the cave but this thingy is

soooo much hard to find.

Ex. "Playername has found a hydro crystal"A hydro crystal is when used within mining it gives you the chance to mine 100 hydrogenium ores with getting half heat damage and it stays with u if you die!but it is so hard to get and so expensive.. how r those?

I liked the idea of having a hydrogenium crystal, but i think the "use you give at it" is a bit extreme. Maybe 50 ores would be already nice ;) .

But having that hydro crystal it would mean we "should" have also other crystals for the rest of ores, or at least the new ones.

I hope i remenber right (don't want to say anything wrong), Ent said that new ores might be like this one, hard to pick, hard maps etc.. (i repeat ... if i remenber right). So in this way, the rest of new ores.. should have too. But if u see the ores we have already, they are already guarded by monsters, some aren't high level, but others are.

New ores should be harder to pick, pk maps would give you adrenaline, which is good (in some way). But not extremly harder.. Cuz if hydro is hard.. then.. i dont want to imagine the others :omg::angry:

Anyways... hydro crystal sounds good to me! And the good thing of picking that? hmm could be harvesting hydro without needing the sword :( . (maybe 25 - 50 ores) :)

Do both of them :P . If you know how to built one of them, you can built the other. The story of the ore, how was it found, i think is that.. Normally stories are small.. arent they? :o

(at least to me :x )
