kl4Uz Report post Posted July 13, 2006 This bug is probably alread known. Just compare the two screenshots, that show exactly the same scene without any modifications and were taken at the same time: http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lo...ugnormal0ka.jpg http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/6619/lolelbug1dj.jpg The character who took the second screenshot saw the same model exactly the other way round. I know of at least one other occurance of this bug, back when we tried to do a screenshot of our old guild.
Aislinn Report post Posted July 13, 2006 Happens to me fairly frequently, people seeing me or themselves facing a different direction than I see. Also when I disconnect then relog back on, sometimes I am facing a different direction when I log back on than I was at the time of the disconnect.
LabRat Report post Posted July 13, 2006 It is caused by your PC not receiving and/or dealing with an actor move command correctly, possibly by lag filling up the actor queue and dropping events. The same thing causes you to fight an animal after it dies, or you to appear not to be fighting.

ttlanhil Report post Posted July 14, 2006 But why does the bug remain, even after logout and a new login?uhh... maybe the direction you see it is right, hence why relog doesn't change it, and other people are seeing it wrong? or have you had cases of both people relogging and not fixing it? kl4Uz Report post Posted July 14, 2006 (edited) it was while an event and people kept coming constantly. I asked several of them and all of them saw the diskordia character in the same position as I saw her (screenshot 1). Only brim_steeleater saw her the other way round, even after two logout/logins. Vegar Report post Posted July 14, 2006 This is a really old bug. I've seen it many times, even my bot sees it from time to time so it have to be serverside. (and for some reason the server guys still haven't fixed it)
Roja Report post Posted July 14, 2006 It's possible ent doesn't know about it Vegar...I didn't know about it either until I saw this thread.
Vegar Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Well.. When I notified the server devs a long time ago, I was told it was an old, known bug.
Entropy Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Yes, it is an old bug, actually I rember it being reported more than 3 years ago, but we never got to fix it because: 1. It's pretty minor. 2. We couldn't find how to reproduce it.
Vegar Report post Posted July 14, 2006 2. We couldn't find how to reproduce it.It usually occurs when a character logs in, the clients get different rotations for the actor.
sufi Report post Posted November 5, 2006 2. We couldn't find how to reproduce it.It usually occurs when a character logs in, the clients get different rotations for the actor. It also seems to happen to me nearly everytime I hit a teleport nexus while harvesting. When I return to sit facing my wonderful wife, either she has turned, or my facing her on my screen means facing another direction on her screen. *shrugs* it is annoying, but not major. Yeah...I've found when that happens, if you both walk away a couple steps then come back, you are back in sync with each other again.

Atlantis Report post Posted November 11, 2006 That's not the point. The bug is that two different people see the same actor facing different ways.

Happy_G Report post Posted July 15, 2007 had this happen to me 3 times yesterday, i noticed it durring the gala when we had alts logged on, my alt was facing Lexi on my alts screen and i was facing Lexi on my screen. did some testing with people in AA storage today and we did get it to reproduce a few times, everyone that was in AA storage the whole time saw Stormie facing the middle of the west wall, and those coming in and out of the storage saw her facing the north wall. it started when i asked Stormie to use ins or delete to spin as i exited and reentered to try to reproduce it from yesterday at the Gala. so from our experiments with it it seems that it is caused somehow by someone spinning while someone elses map is loading. mabey loading causes the character actions to be lost or something. hope that helps figure it out, even tho it isnt a major deal. Entropy Report post Posted July 16, 2007 Well, it would help if you can reproduce it with 100% reliability.
bluap Report post Posted July 16, 2007 (edited) Well, it would help if you can reproduce it with 100% reliability. I think I can with a few tries, it appears to be timing dependant. Three players. Player 1 and player 2 stay in a house. Player 3 moves in and out of the house. If player 1 is rotating while player 3 enters the house, player 3 sees player 1 facing a different direction compare to what players 1 and 2 see. edit: Everyone's view are corrected if player 1 moves across the room. This is a temporary fix for photos and couples . If everyone in the photo/couple moves about (not just rotate) after all have arrived, they ought to be fine. Entropy Report post Posted July 17, 2007 A few times is not good enough. I need a way to reproduce this with 100% reliability.
bluap Report post Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) A few times is not good enough. I need a way to reproduce this with 100% reliability. It is 100% reproducible using this technique, it just takes a few tries - one player rotating while the other steps into the room. It is timing dependant because it involves players pressing keys at particular, relative times. I should imaging if we get a room full of people all rotating, then one playing stepping in, the problem will be immediately reproducible. I'll see if I can give this a try with a few people later: 1) Everyone in the room walks about a bit, then stop and rotate to face one wall - to get them all in sync. 2) Player 1 steps out of the room. 3) Everyone remaining rotates, there will be a variety of speeds. 4) When player 1 steps back in, everyone else continues to rotates until, from their perspective, they face the same wall again. 5) There will now be some player(s) that player 1 sees facing a different direction from the rest. Sounds fun if nothing else. Edited July 17, 2007 by bluap
