Alia Report post Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) This is how fire looks for me now: http://picasaweb.google.com/slava.pimenov/...889201215336770 I like it, maybe just make it a bit more gray. Edit: and fireplace in PL storage has too much smoke still. Maybe turn smoke off for indoors fireplaces at all? Edited April 29, 2007 by Alia
KarenRei Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Alia: Roja wanted fire smoke reduced, so it's underway.
Entropy Report post Posted April 29, 2007 New bug (not the most recent CVS, so I don't know if it was fixed). The Jagged Saber sword (I think) has glowing effects, and it shouldn't.
KarenRei Report post Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) Roja: Changes are in. Get a fresh client, try it out, and let me know what you think. By the way, the mockups were a big help Edited April 29, 2007 by KarenRei
Cycloonx Report post Posted April 29, 2007 New bug (not the most recent CVS, so I don't know if it was fixed). The Jagged Saber sword (I think) has glowing effects, and it shouldn't. Are you sure it wasn't jagged saber of cooling?

Are you sure it wasn't jagged saber of cooling? I just found a guy with a Jagged saber that was glowing, I asked him if it was special or normal, he said normal. So this seems to be a "bug". Are you sure it wasn't jagged saber of cooling? I just found a guy with a Jagged saber that was glowing, I asked him if it was special or normal, he said normal. So this seems to be a "bug". I'm guessing the eye candy is checking the weapon type, and not the GLOW attribute of the weapons.
Entropy Report post Posted April 29, 2007 It doesn't matter if the weapon is special, the client doesn't know that (except for the glowing swords).

evilgeorge Report post Posted April 30, 2007 When I pulled a restore I lagged out I hate to be off-topic, apologies in advance. Just wanted to say absolutely awesome work on the special effects, these aren't the first screenshots I have seen but they are some very nice ones. Big thanks to the people working on these, really very nice. I look forward to them being on the non cvs client alot. EG
Scorpius Report post Posted April 30, 2007 from the cvs built today: Everytime you wear a sword that has a glowy eye_candy effect, half of your screen turns white, actually it seems like a glowly halo when it gets smaller (nope.. i tried turning the new option off.. didnt work) Here is a pic to show where i had my thermal serp on: just click teh pic
Aislinn Report post Posted April 30, 2007 from the cvs built today: Everytime you wear a sword that has a glowy eye_candy effect, half of your screen turns white, actually it seems like a glowly halo when it gets smaller I had the exact same effect. (cvs build from today 9pm EST right after server restart)
Roja Report post Posted April 30, 2007 The smoke looks awesome now! Good job with that. The campfire also looks SO much better. One thing I was wondering about though, could you speed it up a bit? It looks like it's going a bit in slow motion. Or perhaps just speed up the small sparks..I'm not sure. Try to get a more fire crackling type effect and I think it'll be done. Later after the update maybe we can play with different fire textures to improve it even more. There are also some other things with the torches..but i'm tired now. I'll make you some more mock-ups tomorrow. Scorpius, it looks like you are compiling with the new alpha option? If so, don't. Please just use the eyecandy. KarenRei Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Scorpus: Whoah! I'll need someone to help me reproduce that one, but I definitely need to fix that! Roja: Sure. I'm in the middle of something, and I'll want to get that whitescreen issue fixed before I go onto more cosmetic things, but I'll take care of speeding up fires when I'm done with that. And let me know whatever you want done with torches.
Scorpius Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Roja: Im using the CVS that Blackthorne provides. So i have no clue what youre talking about. Karen: like said.. it always happens when i pull a sword that has a glowy eye candy effect.
Aislinn Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Hmm i commented out the new_alpha...it's better but still bad: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c300/aisyel/stilleeeks.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c300/ais...thermalglow.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c300/ais...hermalglow2.jpg

Can I get a list of the options that should be enabled? I've been compiling CVS builds for Windows users and would like to make sure that I'm only using the options that will be in the official client.

KarenRei Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I think I figured it out. There's a fix in; see if it works. Always hard to tell when you can't reproduce the bug, but I found something that should do it. The problem likely was related to a fix to reduce teleporter flickering. Funny how fixing one problem can introduce another, eh?
