bregi Report post Posted January 6, 2007 ok, yes, it is above.net again, and this time seems to be between germany and france... thus the uk and nl should mostly be ok, while the rest of europe will have trouble getting any connection... I'm running some tracert's atm, I'll post the results as soon as I've got them all in...

Chance Report post Posted January 6, 2007 There is as I'm sure you are all aware, nothing we can do about the above.net routers. We get to wait just like everybody else. On the brighter side of life you can go get your monthly dose of sunshine so you don't have a vitamin D deficiency and get rickets. Also so you don't burst into flame the next time you walk into full sunlight. When you return please remember to put your cloak on. And no running inside the game with or without scissors. That is all.

bregi Report post Posted January 6, 2007 (edited) this is what nwtools.com threw out when trying to trace gi1-4.mpr1.fra1.de.above.net... it's inside germany, as nwtools.com has no problem tracing game.eternal-land.com (http://www.nwtools.com/default.asp?prog=trace&host=game.eternal-lands.com) and here goes what happened to my traceroute my server in northern germany tried to do: | Host ------ % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| ...<skipped the first 8 entries with 0% loss ad pings below 100> | f-ea1.F.DE.net.DTAG.DE - 0 | 268 | 268 | 60 | 102 | 691 | 310 | | F-EA1.F.DE.NET.DTAG.DE - 0 | 268 | 268 | 60 | 97 | 891 | 120 | | 64.125.23.165 - 69 | 268 | 85 | 60 | 15004 | 61389 | 35982 | | 64.125.23.193 - 96 | 268 | 12 | 70 | 2499 | 13199 | 150 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 268 | 2 | 120 | 160 | 201 | 201 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 268 | 6 | 70 | 105 | 191 | 191 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 268 | 1 | 401 | 401 | 401 | 401 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 268 | 6 | 60 | 131 | 250 | 250 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 268 | 1 | 150 | 150 | 150 | 150 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 268 | 6 | 70 | 141 | 310 | 310 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 268 | 1 | 180 | 180 | 180 | 180 | | 64.125.23.154 - 99 | 268 | 5 | 60 | 192 | 370 | 370 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 268 | 2 | 70 | 165 | 260 | 70 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 261 | 6 | 70 | 188 | 441 | 441 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 172 | 1 | 511 | 511 | 511 | 511 | | 64.125.23.154 - 97 | 168 | 6 | 70 | 208 | 501 | 501 | | No response from host - 100 | 168 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 168 | 5 | 81 | 290 | 581 | 581 | | No response from host - 100 | 168 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 97 | 168 | 6 | 80 | 362 | 902 | 641 | | 64.125.23.153 - 99 | 168 | 2 | 812 | 3881 | 6950 | 6950 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 168 | 5 | 80 | 300 | 751 | 450 | | No response from host - 100 | 168 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 168 | 5 | 70 | 284 | 601 | 511 | | 64.125.23.153 - 100 | 168 | 1 | 90 | 90 | 90 | 90 | | 64.125.23.154 - 99 | 167 | 3 | 70 | 244 | 571 | 571 | | No response from host - 100 | 167 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 93 | 39 | 3 | 70 | 270 | 661 | 661 | | No response from host - 100 | 38 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 93 | 38 | 3 | 60 | 300 | 731 | 731 | | No response from host - 100 | 38 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 93 | 38 | 3 | 91 | 357 | 861 | 861 | | No response from host - 100 | 38 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 95 | 37 | 2 | 140 | 530 | 921 | 921 | | No response from host - 100 | 36 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 64.125.23.154 - 98 | 36 | 1 | 991 | 991 | 991 | 991 | | No response from host - 100 | 36 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | this is quite crazy the trace hopping back and forth between 64.125.23.154 (ge-9-0.pr1.fra1.de.above.net) and 64.125.23.153 (ge-1-4.mpr2.fra1.de.above.net), two german above.net servers... look at the gaps in the numbers of packets sent... the trace didn't even get routed through the full way first and only after some tries got sent on to the next hop (or the last as it was going in circles...) and in the end being caught in a loop...
