On BSD, I'm using CVS/HEAD version and the 9jan update for actor defs, meshes etc.

This client has so called "blind spots" in the upper region of the screen. Monsters/NPCs/bags, anything not part of the map disappears from view and comes back when moving outof the blind spot.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about I've taken two screenshots that illustrate this problem. Though they were taken on the test server. Now you see them, now you don't

Not a big issue, but it's a new one (I think). My iron sword and my iron chain mail do not skin properly...

Half of the sword is grey, they other half is a brownish bronze. There is a dark grey stripe down the back of my arms when I'm wearing the mail. I have screen shots of them, I just need to put them on my web page somewhere...

I'm running Windows XP Professional on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop.

Addendum: Ant_19 has white on the backs of his arms, and bluefrog has a shield that's part wood, and part black and grey when I look at them (Whitestone vege patch in the south west corner), so it's not just my character that isn't mapping properly for me. I recall, now that I think of it, that some of the graphics files from the zip file had older dates than the files that I was replacing. I will try restoring from my backup, and see whether it makes a difference...

Sounds like you failed with unzipping. Look in your EL folder, there should be a folder named "Update". Copy its content into your EL folder, thats all.

I made the files go splat again, and the texture maps seem to be working fine now. This is the third time that I've overwritten them... the unzipping didn't go very smoothly. Still, it's good to know that the client is OK.

My only other problem has been that twice I've been typing something into an IRC session that is running on my other machine (I'm accessing it using mstsc), and after hitting enter and going back to the EL window (which did not have the focus) I've noticed that the text is there as well, but with the last letter repeating all by itself - I was not touching the keyboard. That one is random, and has only happened twice, so I have no clues about what caused it. If it happens again, I'll try to note down more details.

I saw something concerning 2d items like leaves on the ground..

At the bottom of the screen they sometimes appear a little bit too late.

That looks really funny in the garden of the magic school. There are tables with lanterns on them. And the lanterns stand on bar maps. When i walked around, several times the table and the lantern appear as they usually do, and then, out of the sudden, the bar map shows up under the lantern.

Well, i try to reproduce it now..

I have a big problem in the temple of Aluwen. There is no floor around the NPC Noria, and I can't move close enough to talk to her. As I'm doing one of the god quests, this is a problem for me.

:icon13:

From one POV, the 'floor' is black, and from another it is blue. There is a small quantity of 'grass' at the bottom of the stairs. If I click on the plants, I can walk to them, but I can't walk to any part of the blacked out 'floor'

KeiraOwl

Another similar problem inside Vernor Castle - 'castle insides' 105,40 It looks like it may be a graveyard, but the floor is black and you can't walk on it.

Could you please run it under GDB or analyze the core with GDB to figure out where exactly it crashes?

Any cvs tag/datepsec I can use so we're talking about the same source?

Can someone check? If what she said is not true and she just didn't unzip properly, someone will get a 2 weeks ban.

Just get the current CVS, compile it, and next time it crashes analyze your core.

Would it not make sense to close this thread since it refers to an older update than this one: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22207

I have no problem with this area.

Just so you are aware, KeiraOwl is my wife. She already mentioned she had problems unzipping the archive. 3 goes and still problems. My guess is a bad download.

We both understand how annoying it is to have to check things and how many resources it takes, but she has worked as a professional tester and is extremely anal about checking that *everything* is working. She is doing this to help out and hopefully help to produce a better product in the end.

Please give her a break once more. I'll download the archive and go through the process on 2 machines just to check. Then, she can cross check any problems with me before posting them to the forums.

If someone has to get a ban, feel free to ban me for 2 weeks as banning her isn't going to help at all. If needs be, she just won't post any more problems she finds.

Both on main and test servers, I'm not noticing any problem with the ground in Aluwen's temple, in any direction (rotated camera for the full 360 degree view to be sure). Everything appears to look like it should.

Could there be a problem with a certain video card or something? I think someone had the same problem on the test server 3 thread, might be worth looking into?

Not ruling out human error, but just trying to check every angle.

I downloaded the zip file three times (overall), to be certain that the download was OK. I unzipped it into the EL directory, as directed, but without using folders. I had to delete the whole mess, because the files went into the EL directory, and I didn't know where to move them to. I made a copy of my backup, and I then unzipped using folders, and it unzipped into a folder called update_files (or some such). I got the new exe file from the link in this thread, overwrote the el exe file, and the program would not start. I repeated the process several times, and put the files from the update directory into their respective places in the main EL directory. the program stopped throwing error messages and started. After the skin mapping problem, I repeated the process yet again, and copied the files from the update directory, blah, blah, blah, and the skin mapping (the image that was the 'skin' didn't fit the skeleton) problem went away.

I still have the problem with the area near the NPC in Aluwen's temple. I just took a screen shot of it. I am heading to Vermor Castle to repeat the process. I have made a copy of the error log, but will not post it here, it is too big. It will also be put on the web for your perusal.

They are at:

ErrorLog27-28Jan06

http://www.geocities.com/skiingowl/vermor.jpg

I didn't know that the Vermor one was meant to be like that. My bad. Sorry for causing trouble.

I hope that this helps.

regards,

Sandi

It's not my intention to get anyone into trouble (banned or otherwise). I checked the area again as I had the same problem in a previous update just as KeiraOwl described it, but it seems to have have been fixed.
