I had a problem building CVS version (updated few seconds ago):

sound.o(.text+0x410): I funktionen "get_loaded_buffer":
sound.c: undefined reference to `alutLoadWAVFile'
sound.o(.text+0x463):sound.c: undefined reference to `alutUnloadWAV'
sound.o(.text+0x14c0): I funktionen "init_sound":
sound.c: undefined reference to `alutInit'
sound.o(.text+0x185c): I funktionen "destroy_sound":
sound.c: undefined reference to `alutExit'

After that i realised you simply do not have -lalut in your Makefile. :) Please add it so other people can build EL easily. :P

LDFLAGS line should look like this:

LDFLAGS=$(shell sdl-config --libs) $(shell xml2-config --libs) -lSDL_net -lopenal $(XDIR) -lGL -lGLU -lvorbis -lvorbisfile -lcal3d -lm -lpng -lalut

Kind regards

Not everyone needs -lalut added either, it all depends on the specific system and the compile options used with openal.

OpenAL and FreeALut are separated into two packages. If I use default settings (.tar.gz, RPM or DEB packages are compiled similarly), than I must add libalut to EL makefile in order to have those missing symbols mentioned in my previous post.

What do you think..?

When I said the DL works, I ment the LINK works, and you can DL off it.

using gentoo, fetched source from cvs, compiled it and had no trouble at all...

another thing: please post such things in update section above. without a sticky and in general chat it's easy to miss this topic...

That's because this thread is more of a "FYI" type of thread. When the update will happen, it will be posted in the Updates section.

I couldn't wait for Learner to prepare linux version so I compiled from source without any luck.

What Cal3d lib are you using? I mean what version?

From debian sarge... I am not home right now. Debian sarge contains 0.9.1+cvs20041122-2 to all appearancehttp://packages.debian.org/stable/source/cal3d

I am going to have a try on gentoo machine.

I am working on EL RPMs which would contain statically linked EL with all stuff necessary for work - I am just waiting for new version to be released in order to pack them into new RPM...

I have compiled my openal from the tar.gz, and, as Vitez, I had to add the -lalut as well to compile cvs. I only did not mentioned before because I tought it was only my problem.

Just download it and remember WHERE you stored the file. When the update happens, meaning, the server will be rebootet and you cant connect with your current client, run the file. :icon13:

Linux versions are available at:

Full download http://www.other-life.com/el/el_120_linux_full.zip

Update from 1.1.2 http://www.other-life.com/el/el_120_linux_update.zip

Both files include the x86 static versions and the x86-64 dynamic versions.

Have there been any changes in files with this release and the CVS version from 2-05-2006 besides the version bump in main.c?

And thank you Learner for working on the Linux release.
