"Sto All" button to work w/o Storage window near storage NPC

Recommended Posts

Seems this has not yet been suggested (I could only find the original feature suggestion for the Store All button — that clearly recommends the button the way it works now):

How about having the [sto All] button work in close proximity to the storage NPCs without having to talk to them first to open the Storage window? After all, the [itm Lst] button does work that way, too.

Sure, it might make it easier for macroing, but still, harvesting large amounts of things is already enough of a pain in the body parts where bees sting or cavern walls fall onto.

What do others think? :)

P.S.: Sorry if I missed older threads on that topic. I seem to have crashed the forum's search function to some mysql errors, didn't wanna tempt fate.. :D

EDIT: Added some bold to emphasize an important acpect..

Even with the item lists, you still have to have opened storage in the normal way previously and still be in range of storage. Its just that once opened, you can close the storage window and still access stuff from the item lists.

How the [itm Lst] button works is a bit more complex, it seems: One and the same storage will remain accessible from only the item list after walking around on the whole map and when being back at the sto, or even after changing maps (to insides, or also to another map) and when being back at the same sto. Only if another storage NPC is 'contacted', or if the read-only storage window (#sto) is opened in between, the item list loses this access (to the previous storage, and switches to the new storage NPC in case one was contacted).

That's all I'd dare to be asking for. Would be great to have the same access possibility with Store All, don't you think? :)

EDIT: A try to make things clearer... I'm strictly talking about when being back at the same Storage NPC, not from anywhere on the map or whatever!

Am I understanding you correctly that you want storage to remain open and usable from anywhere including map changes, once you open it the first time? :pinch:

I'm pretty sure the Elowynn just wants to be able to stand close to the storage, click "sto all", and everything be stored without the dialogue opening.

All that reference about going places and what not is just a confused explanation of how the lists work. It is possible to start mixing using a list, then close your storage, and still withdraw things using the list. You can even walk away and come back if the storage is outside.

To me it sounds like she wants the list items still "available" no matter where you go until you click another npc.

One and the same storage will remain accessible with only the item list

Hopefully it's just her choice of words is faulty, rather than the concept. But I don't see the point in keeping the list open away from storage if you aren't able to use it.

More troublesome is ability to open it and not be able to use it. Open and use range should be the same.

I like the concept of this thread (well, at least what I think the concept is),but I don't like this idea. As I often harvest on maps that have outdoor storages simply because I like to keep my storage open, then walk back and when in range click "sto All". It just saves a lot of clicking and those precious seconds that I could be harvesting. (those seconds add up when your harvesting large quantities. Or at least it makes me feel like i'm finishing faster.. who knows.)

If the original idea is what I think it is, then i could do the same thing I do on maps with outdoor storages on any map, because as long as I was in range of the storage, I can click "sto all."

Hello,

Am I understanding you correctly that you want storage to remain open and usable from anywhere including map changes, once you open it the first time? :pinch:

Indeed, as I described in my initial post, I'd like it to work only when standing next to the Storage NPC.

On the whole map?? :o Ouch.. Sorry if it could be understood that way..

All my explainations about changing maps and walking away referred to how to the [itm Lst] remains being able to access one Storage NPC, also only when back in close proximity to that Storage NPC after being wherever! I'd find it useful to have the [sto All] have the same access 'policy'.

The [sto All] button could also open the last Storage window automatically on the first click, and store everything on the second click, or something like that — still talking about when standing right next to the last used Storage NPC.

Macroing made easy.

Yes, I mentioned that possibility in my initial post, as well. If you wish so, everything could be macroed, even now, if you only know how. It's not even that hard, too, no need to ‚make it easy‘.. But in my opinion, there should be a fair compromise between making macroing harder and making the gameplay more user friendly.

Sorry for the confusion. To me it sounded well explained in English... :D

As far as I see it, Affliction got my point exactly. :) Thank you.

EDIT: Uhm... removed irrelevant nonsense caused by misunderstanding... :lipssealed:

I like Elowynn's intention which is "make the gameplay more user friendly". Sometimes it seems the focus is so much more on keeping the macro-cheaters out that the honest fun-seekers suffer a little...

How about at least making it so when the NPC is clicked on, there is not a second choice that has to be made? IE, The first click opens: "1 - Open Storage, 2 - Help, 3, Goodbye". Then you have to make another action, which is either use the mouse or hit 1 to answer..

When I click storage, its not because I want to "talk" to the NPC. Just pull up the storage window. Sure maybe its necessary to have the menu pop-up, but I suggest to put it in the background and bring the storage window to the foreground on one-click.

<HS> With 1.9.3 client, you can right-click on storage window's top bar and select 'Auto select storage option in dialogue', which does what you wish for (there is 'Auto close storage dialogue' option too). </HS>

Thanks Elowynn for the clarification. I get it now ;)

And oooo I didn't know that about the storage window in the update! Nice!

Thank you for the hint, Kabuya. That reduces the clicking orgies quite a bit. :)

I guess now it's up to debate if my initial suggestion is still needed. I think I'd still appreciate it as an additional feature  (despite the macroing possibilities it might offer).

I'm still very new to this game, in comparison, but I second that impression.
