can anyone help me? i downloaded EL, but i havent played yet

 

When i get to the character creation part its just stops answering... :angry2:

Just a thought - you got as far as the character creation screen. Did you saw a "character" generated with the name "Player"?

 

If you are that far, you will see 4 buttons at the bottom of the screen - from left to right:

First - allows you to set a name and password for your character.

Second - allows you to select a race, gender, and style for your character - only choose elf, dwarf, or human for race (the others are pay-to-play, can find details elsewhere on these forums).

Third - allows you to look at a help screen - more useful when you actually start playing.

Fourth - allows you to tweak settings for the EL client on your computer.

nah i dont even get to start creating.. as soon as it says to "click to create", i click and it freezes... i see the buttons but cant click them

I had the same problem with one of the test clients Rhazz - try deleting the EL folder in the Programs Files directory and then re-installing. It shouldn't work, but did for me

You may also want to look at the Error Log, I had a problem with that in one of the test clients - there was no map for the "create char" screen, and the game crashed.

 

This shouldn't be the case, or everyone should be having problems in this. Also, this was not one of Entropy's clients at the time - it had been ttlanhil's test server client, and I let him know of the error, and fixed it from zep's client myself.

I've got a problem 2. after I've decided my username and password and created my character, I click done twice. Then it says Error:your ISP has been blocked from creating characters due to abuse. Got to the forums and request to come on the whitelist. I sent an e-mail to one of the administrators and he sent me an e-mail to create my character within 20 minutes. Well I didn't read the e-mail till 1 minute till deadline. I finished 1 minute after the deadline. I still got the same message. I sent an e-mail to the same administrator asking to be put back on the white list he said I already was. And I can't do anything. Could someone please tell me what to do. Also what does AFK mean?

And about character creation, if you are on the Whitelist, you should be ok. Try to create the character again.

The white list takes a certain amount of time to 'synchronise'. Perhaps wait another 10/15 minutes to see if it works then.

unfortunately Gadais tip didnt work...

 

the game loads, then it tells me to click to continue. i do it and the login/new character page appears - i clik new character, i wait for it to load, the i wait 20 secs to Accept - then "to costumize your character .. etc" and it freezes even if it dont click - the error "signature" is

Double click on My Computer

Double click on Local Disk (C:)

Double click on Program Files

Double click on your Eternal Lands folder.

Look for a file called error_log.txt - if you can't find it go to Tools | Folder Options, click on the View tab and untick Hide extensions for known file types.

 

Copy the last 20 lines or so of the error_log.txt file and post them here - should help resolve the issue.

Sounds like he may have downloaded the old update that is on the EL website?\

 

and yes there are problems with the SiS intgrated video cards...they aren't compatible with the game.

If it's asking for .caf files, you have the right version, but you should have those... if it can't be found, and you've tried reinstalling...

I would say so yes. That card you have is sorely outdated.

Looks nice. Pretty much any 64MB+ card that supports OpenGL 1.2 (actually, any OpenGL 1.2 card) works fine with EL. Just not integrated ones. Which don't support OpenGL much anyway.

That card should work just fine. It's a good video card
