got nothing bethers to do? ^-^

Not especially, was just a simple copy-paste job. All were made from EL files... if you can figure out how, it's easy.

The golden rules on editing the graphics files:

1) Make a backup

2) Make a second backup because you *will* save over the backups - guaranteed.

3) The image size must remain the same.

4) The colour depth (8 bit, 256 colours) must be adhered to.

5) Remember a lot of images are mirrored, so you only get to edit one half.

6) Some items are flipped

When I edit clothing etc, I use Paint Shop Pro, but any decent editing program will be fine.

first, I resize the image, 500%

increase colour depth to 24 bit - allows me to use all the program editing functions

edit the item

resize the item 20%

decrease the colour depth to 256 colours (8 bit)

save with a new filename, .bmp format

For those with the TC client, I am more than happy to add your custom clothes etc to my updates.. but I flatly refuse to accept any of the following types of images:

* drug related

* hate related (generic from 'I hate..' to certain flags)

* images of a type unsuitable for minors

* other types that I personally deem inappropriate (I will specify a reason to the supplier of the image)

Did three possible artificer cloaks:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/fre...1_greengray.bmp

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/fre...0/cape1_red.bmp

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/fre...e1_bluegray.bmp

Also did an iron sheild, and a fur cloak.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/freeone3000/cape2.bmp

I cheated a little. Okay, I cheated a lot. I handdrew around an item in the textures file, then subtracted the black parts, then copy-pasted it onto another texture file, then anchored the layers and saved, all under The GIMP. For the color change, all I did was rename cape1_gold.bmp to cape1_brown.bmp

Why can't I use bitmaps? They're SMALL bitmaps...

EDIT: Also made generic mod cape little better, IMO. Just some orange stripes...

No, this isn't official game stuff. These are just things individual players do, if you want something like this only you and anybody else who downloads this same info will see. And as was said earlier, ALWAYS make sure you make a backup file FIRST before you do this stuff.

You do these modeifications completely at your own risk. Since they are not part of the official release, don't expect the moderators to be able to help you if this mess up your game.

To make good looking cloaks you (this is not to anyone in particular) should blend in the image with the textures. Most of the ones I have seen so far looks like you put a sticker on the back of the cape.

In a program like Photoshop you might want to try the soft light option or make an extra layer with the shadows of the cloak.

Even tho it's fun to make a custom cape, I think it looks worse if you just paste on an image in crappy resolution.

And, again, make sure you do the following (copied from LabRat's post):

The golden rules on editing the graphics files:

1) Make a backup

2) Make a second backup because you *will* save over the backups - guaranteed.

3) The image size must remain the same.

4) The colour depth (8 bit, 256 colours) must be adhered to.
