Roja Report post Posted September 19, 2004 http://www.eternal-lands.com/mapmakers/map...-09-19-2004.zip Thumnail object view! Ctrl+b -press this to bring up a window with categories of objects to select from. Now it is 100x's easier to see and select an object! 3Dobject mode -Press ctrl+w to set some random rotatation and height settings for 3d objects. This is useful when you need to place many default objects like trees, plants, grass, etc. You can enable the rotation for each axis individually, or a combination or all of them at once. The height you can set the min/max values to as well. To move angles/numbers faster you can use ctrl+leftclick(100 increment) and alt+leftclick(10). Ground Tile mode -You can now "draw" the tiles without being in minimap mode, but it will only place 1 tile at a time. Just hold the mouse button and place the tiles 2D object mode -Hold down CTRL while placing 2D objects to RANDOMLY ROTATE and alternate the heights of the objects. This is extremly useful when you need to place many 2d objects near or around each other. It is not a fool-proof way to prevent "flickering" however, so you still have to manually check that by rotating the camera slowly(shift+home/end). Replace objects -Use this if you want to replace ALL objects of one type over the entire map. -Press Ctrl+r. First choose the mode you want. Mode1=ground tiles, Mode2=2dobjects, Mode3=3d objects. Then, Pick up and hold on your mouse cursor the object you want to replace. Then click the first Select box. Let go of that object, and choose the object you want to replace it with, click the second select box, then click the Replace box. ---------------------------------- *If you find ANY bugs with the editor, please describe them in full detail, and post it in the mapmakers forum. MoonShadow Report post Posted September 19, 2004 i take it the blue ones are very low and the green are high? Press TAB in the heightmap mode so you get the 3d heightmap and then it is quite easy to see which height fits. And BTW: Sadez made the new editor. Thank you very much Sadez - the new features make mapping way easier. Thanks

Bad Learner, bad! platinum:/home/teh banned 0n3na/map_editor$ patch -p0 < mapeditor.diff patching file Makefile.linux patch: **** malformed patch at line 15: mapedit.x86.linux.bin: $(OBJS) Duh, anyway seems so it is same changes so I can do it manually...again... Quell Report post Posted September 20, 2004 indeed looks good -i'd love to see a tool to check settings of placed objects without changing their position (xyz coords) for the next update
Hazor Report post Posted September 20, 2004 -i'd love to see a tool to check settings of placed objects without changing their position (xyz coords) for the next update Yes.. that, and a way to enter exact coordinants and rotations for placing an object, would be really nice. Quinticus Report post Posted September 30, 2004 hi guys, i was having some trouble getting new features to work with the map editor. So i decided to redownload the new editor...i extracted it to a separate file and it says it can't start because dls.dll wasn't found. How can i get rid of this problem? Then, if the new features aren't working, what could i be doing wrong?
Roja Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Google --> search --> dls.dll...download it
Sadez Report post Posted September 30, 2004 Put the executable in EL folder (sdl.dll comes with the game).

Sadez Report post Posted October 1, 2004 my only problem with the editor is when i: ctrl+b >Trees>Trees with out leaves --- then click on the down arrow -- it closes out the map editor... one or two othere ones do that also dont rember off hand cuz it wasnt objects i placed as offen as trees That happens when you specified an object that did not exist and it's already fixed. This map editor is quite old, the new one has Umrion's particle editor, window dragging and some small fixes.

Nutter Report post Posted October 19, 2004 Ctrl+B ERROR IF you press Ctrl+B to bring up the £D view in the New mapmaker .exe and you click on a catagory, then press \/ button on the side and keep going. The map maker program exits. So i would recommend saving your map every time before using Ctrl+B.
