Pre RC9

Install it, and run el_pre_rc_9.exe

 

A few notes first:

1. People that had flicker will still have flicker (we'll get to that on a future pre rc, so don't report it)

2. Now the S3, SiS and the Intel cards (as well as some ATI cards) SHOULD not crash anymore. If they do crash, please paste the content of the infos.log and errors log, but only the relevant parts please, not the WHOLE logs:

The errors log relevant part should contain ".vert" in it. Don't paste sound errors, or other things.

 

And make sure you have your #glinfo first 3 lines in your forum siggy.

 

If it crashed with the previous Pre RCs, but now it works, please says so!

Similar problems to previous RC although the graphics on this one were very smooth and nice prior to problems.

 

When I tried to use pointy finger to access certain things (like getting into deepstone) it would not work. When I entered AA storage and panned, the program crashed, but instead of freezing my computer, it gave me a blue screen, which I could not capture quickly enough and then my machine rebooted. After recovery it sent an error report to Microsoft, containing these 2 files:

please forgive me, it works now. I didn't know how to update drivers, but Ghrae helped me and it works.

 

Just goes to show there are some things even old people can still learn.

I've updated my siggy to capture my Laptop Info.

 

This is the first time I've loaded any of the Pre_RCx verisons on this machine. So far - everything...and I mean everything...seems to be working very well^^

 

I do have another PC that I need to check out later.

 

EDIT: the above RC_9 results are from my Intel LP.

Ok, try this:

1. Delete the whole EL folder (don't worry, the settings and logs are kept in a different directory)

2. Download the game again from the website, install it, install the RC9 (AFTER you installed the game)

3. Change your color resolution to 32bpp

Nearly there !! So close could actually log in, but seconds after logging in, the client has to close sorry

Set poor_man = 1 in the el.ini from your settings directory (not from the game directory!).

 

if the directory you mean is found in My Documents\Eternal Lands\main then the poor man was already set at 1

Ok, then try to disable the shadows, clouds shadows,a nd reflections, just in case. And rename the shaders directory to something like shaders_1

NVidia no problems so far.

 

SiS: Client starts now, but crashes a few seconds after logging unless I go to console or mapview.

I can stay on console as long as i want and mapwalk but when I go back to normal view it crashes after a few seconds.

Nothing unusual in info and error log (same as shangmid).

Ok, try this:

1. Delete the whole EL folder (don't worry, the settings and logs are kept in a different directory)

 

Done

 

2. Download the game again from the website, install it, install the RC9 (AFTER you installed the game)

 

Done

 

3. Change your color resolution to 32bpp

 

I opened display properties, and this option was already chosen, so I chose 16bit and then rechose 32bit. Then I started RC9.

 

Results:

Good graphics, smooth video 50+ fps. Cannot use pointy finger for certain selections just as before. Outside pans are fine. Moving from Trass to Glac was fast and smooth. Moving from Glac to AA via boat took a long time (15-20 secs). No crash in AA storage and I panned around for over 2 minutes!!! \o/

 

Will continue to use this RC and report any problems. Thank you, Radu!

Ok tried to set the shadows, cloud shadows and reflections to 0 as well, didnt work sorry. Still logs in then crashes immediately upon opening.

 

Im being honest entropy, I couldnt find the shaders directory in my documents/eternal lands . srry fr being a fking noob :pickaxe:

No, the shaders directory is in the exe directory.

RC_9 is now installed and working on all three PCs listed in my siggy (I know...I'll work on shrinking the length for the forum :pickaxe: )

 

The only problem I have is with the mouse pointer on my Poor Man PC. The pointer doesn't change when over items or NPCs on the screen. Its stuck in walk mode. The pointer DOES change when interacting with the game buttons and inventory items listed in the inventory boxes vertically displayed on the upper right side - near the quickspell icons.

 

Other than the mouse pointer, no crashes and other major issues so far.

 

EDIT:

Like I said so many times before, if you have the "can't select shit" problem, change the color mode form 16bpp to 32bpp.

No, the shaders directory is in the exe directory.

 

renamed the shaders directory to shaders_1 Tried running the RC9 and again, it loads and lets me log in , then crashes right away.

So far so good :~)

 

map change from glac>irin was quick and painless, as was trass>glac.

Made the map change from trass to the 'special cave' 5-6X with no resync issues at all \o/ normally I was disconnecting/resyncing anytime i walked in there.

 

Walked all around at .60 perspective with minor fps issues. PL sto still makes me freeze up but it doesn't crash.

 

turning on sound is not an option, I crash immediately.

After using RC9 for a little while and walking into Glac from trass, the graphics turned strange, see:

If I rotate camera angle 90 degrees right or left, the picture goes back to normal. No other ill effects that I could see during the graphics oddity.
