Samanex Report post Posted November 10, 2005 Yesterday (11/09/05) there was a remark on channel 1 about 'WTF someone's leaving bags all over IP with 1 loaf of bread and 1 gc'. I didn't see much else about it, and barely remember it. Today I logged on as my suicidal illiterate alter-ego Kernel_Mustered and beamed back to IP to jerk a perk. On my way to the boat as usual, I did my happy dance and started to clean up errant bags looking for bones to powder, when I ran across at least a dozen bags with 1 loaf and 1 gc (no fish). That's when I remembered the mention from yesterday. Is this what's known as bag spamming? Dropping 'Knapsacks of Knotmuch' all over the place for the same thrill as you get by sticking pencils in the ceiling with a proper ruler chop? The kind of activity known as a "funny once" by science fiction readers and other robots? It only bugs me on account of because just in case *ahem* there may be something valuable in found bags left behind by careless adventurers such as fur, bones, meat, antlers. Or it could be a nooberts deathbag that has waaay less than 12 minutes to retrieve because of all the 'litter' around. I have crawled out of the Underbeneath and scrambled for my bag containing the 10 beaver pelts and 7 bunny feets just to watch countless bags *poof* before my eyes due to over population. As I've posted before, I'm Captain Curious. George got squat on me (wait, I take that back....) When I see a bag, I check it out. If it's obviously a DB, I make all effort to find the owner and save the items. If it's a bone, pumpkin, lump of coal, I eat it. Too many bags in one spot seems like bad gaming to me. There's nothing in EL that can't be used, eaten, or sold. Think of all the poor, starving children in......... Sorry, battle on!
ttlanhil Report post Posted November 10, 2005 (edited) actually, you'll find those bags with 1-2 gc and/or bread pop up around a lamppost... the magic lamppost ^_^ it's a bread/gc spawn... if it were players doing it, then, yes, it'd be bad Edited November 10, 2005 by ttlanhil
Derin Report post Posted November 10, 2005 That bread on Isla Prima is a gift from the gods, the sacred bread. That is not bag spamming at all. Eat the bread, share it with friends and rejoice
MagpieLee Report post Posted November 11, 2005 There are small other respawns of items around EL too. In the gold/goblin mine, there spawns def pot/bread/gold. Mrs Lorpak spawns minor healing potions...there are others too

Arnieman Report post Posted November 11, 2005 Just a thought - maybe instead of revealing the spawns, we should let people explore and be amazed!

Samanex Report post Posted November 11, 2005 Ska'dananam! ... I never thought of that! Always thought that besides the NPC's and camraderies, IP was just the place to leave as soon as exp dictates. My curiosity will always overcome any current mission and I will always open any bags I find. Now I'm going to ignore the bags on IP, but I still think that all adventurers should grab everything they find, it's all useful, one way or another. Thanks for the replies! Derin Report post Posted November 13, 2005 If it's a bone, pumpkin, lump of coal, I eat it. ewww... you eat bones and coal? That is a gnome recipe, the coal is to get a charred flavor touch to the final dish.
