JaneMuffin Report post Posted September 20, 2005 (edited) Okay I have been trying to help another player to figure out why he cant play el. Here is the story so far. He has installed a fresh copy of el 2 times. He logs in and after a few minutes 5-10 mins, his EL display gets all screwy.. So we suggested he reinstall drivers and he did that...Did not work. We suggested he turn on the option of ATI card...Didnt work. I swear I have seen this before on this thread but for some reason I cant find it. I dont know much about computer hardware but I am thinking its cuz his video card is over heating.. He said he has an "ATI 128 meg" I dont know the brand name or anything and he poofed before I could extract the info. BTW before the update he could play fine. Any suggestions? Thanks JaneMuffin BTW if I help him fix this I am gonna ask him for those 8 EFEs Edited October 7, 2005 by Derin

cedox Report post Posted September 20, 2005 S3 ain't SiS card, right? A lots of people have problems with S3 savage cards, too. Is this high priority in fix list or did someone actually get S3 card to work? (Sorry to attack this thread, but the topic is close enough) - Cedox

JaneMuffin 198795[/snapback] ATi cards should work if you turn off the shadow mapping (and perhaps shadows as well). One tip is to start by disabling all features, and then add them one by one (not the shadow mapping tho)

Learner Report post Posted September 20, 2005 Also, if video cards draw too much power for what the MB or PS can handle, strange things like that can happen.
Drakos7 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 ATI Radeon 9800 works fine here ATI Radeon 7500 Mobility (M7) only works well under windows here. Objects go missing/hidden under linux.
MoonShadow Report post Posted September 20, 2005 Ati Radeon x800 256mb does not work fine. Shadow mapping does not work. If I choose that option my fps drop to 5. Also when I am in "Ati Mode" I can't move anymore. o.O However everything except for the shadows works fine.
Sildegaar Report post Posted September 20, 2005 (edited) ATI Radeon X300 SE 128MB (with PCI-Express) works fine, including Shadow mapping, if you use ATI Catalyst 5.8. This card is quite cheap and good enough, but you need a PCI-Express configuration. PS: The "ATI Card" parameter prevents the character from making any move. The "mimaps" parameters doesn't seem to do anything in the new update. In the previous one, it wouldmake things look ugly! Derin Report post Posted October 7, 2005 Case closed. Happy gaming! For graphics drivers update see: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13060 Just because you have a new video (graphics) card, it doesn't mean you have the lastest drivers.
