Health and mana in instances

Recommended Posts

According to this topic, I implemented something close to suggestion #1.

Code available here: https://github.com/kbialowas/Eternal-Lands/tree/instance_mode

When you turn "instance mode" on, other players banners are hidden, your baner gets background and shows name, mana and health numbers and bars. You can setup how high above your head banner is located. What do you think about it?

[Edit]

Sorry, I accidentaly pasted a link to feature suggestion topic in my topic title, can anyone remove it pls?

[Edit 2]

Thank you ;)

It is just perfect ;)

Is it legal for me to use this on main server?

Looks great. Never done an instance, but I would find this handy when fighting bigger mobs like clops, yeti and certainly chickens.

However, I don't know what to do with your "git" and can I do it legally?

Until it gets approved it cannot be used on the main server - but can be used on test. Once it is approved and added to the main tree - check out Sir_Odie's services - he produces latest versions of the compiled code.

Yeah, just like Raz wrote - you can't use it on main server now, only on test. From my github repository you can download source code, probably the easiest way for you is just to use this link:

https://github.com/kbialowas/Eternal-Lands/zipball/instance_mode

this way you get zipped source code of the client with my modification. You must unzip it and then just follow client compilation guide for your operating system. Compilation guides for mac and windows are pinned in this forum section:

Windows

Mac

If you're linux user, there are probably lots of ppl here (including me) who can help you with compilation ;).

Sweet that looks great WD.

Is that the final way it will be or will there be more options to it? (thinking about the occations were you might just want to be able to see your own /health and/ mana bar and everyone elses healhbars (only ofc) at the same time or is that not possible?) Oh and will it work with numbers only?

Edit: Missed some words in there..

Now it's not very configurable however it's possible to add some more customization to it. At the moment the way your banner is displayed is just fixed, other humans banners are hidden (fixed too) and creatures banners use standard settings that can be configured using banner popup menu. However it's possible to add options that make all those banners customizable. On weekend I'll try to make one more branch with some more customization options.

I got one more question to ppl more familiar with el client and protocol. Is it possible to find out which one mob is summoned and which one is "normal"?

[Edit]

I made one more attemp and done it a bit different - added a window and health and mana bars inside so you can put it wherever you want on your screen. Code still need a few improvements but if anyone want to test it - it's available on github:

https://github.com/kbialowas/Eternal-Lands/tree/health_window

You can turn the window on using ctrl + d.

To be honest, I liked the first options better (just the banner and the health/mana bar). But I am a funtional kind of person, if this is implemented this way, it would still be awesome. Do you happen to have any news about it being accepted in the code?

Hi,

actually both versions can exist in client at once. I worked some more on the second version as I considered it more usefull personally and ended up with a new awesome window with all the stats/things you need while fighting ;).

Github link if anyone want to test it (requires EL client compilation skill ;P ):

https://github.com/kbialowas/Eternal-Lands/tree/health_window

What you think about that? Can something like that be included to official EL client?

It is perfect Orin, thank you for that. I would love to see this accepted in the code.

Would it be possible to make it so you can have the health And mana bar/numbers shown while regular playing (not turning off any other stuff)?

I usually want to see other ppls health and so on visable at all time but I would love to be able to see my amount of mana below my health at the same time.

The window looks very cool and i like the extra options in there too.

Added mana bar as an option - included this to my first branch (instance_mode).

[Edit]

Oh btw - it ads one entry to el config. I haven't changed config version cause it's not "critical" change to el config, however el client MIGHT crash when running for the first time. After this first run (and crash ;) ) config is modified and everythig works fine.

Changed config version - it won't cause crashes anymore ;)

Added some customization to instance mode so you can setup the way creatures/other players banners looks. Your own banner uses standard settings.
