Now that we have no drops KF, the feature could be used in making a sports event.

Simply:

Make an item that drops every time you die/diss/flee. When in inventory the wielding player gets a coloured name (or the item should be worn, no weapon used simultaenously, huge a/d negs - possible more strategy from team needed).

Two teams, for example 5 & 5 peeps go to starting point, the game item is dropped and the teams try to get the item to predefined area. As an example the KF forts could be used.

Possibly different items for different effects, for example one that makes the holder of the item not able to move, but it could be thrown to teammate (as in ranging) With different items it'd be possible to control the rules (no casting with item - no ttr)

 

As a variation there could also be the good old capture the flag - use the flag and if no weapon+shield is worn you autowield the flag and can move around with it. If (When) you die the flag is returned to the starting position (or left to the dying spot) Both teams have their own flag and try to defend their own and take the opponents. You know how it goes :)

 

Also remove pki / replace them with frags gained from the capture the flag or PK Ball. Top frags get award and after that the frags are reset.

 

Drawback - takes some moderation and consumes lots of time to make the changes :x

That's a lot of implementation complexity there. Perhaps something simpler based on the capture the flag theme:

So what about a new item: a flag or banner (of the type used by most every foot soldier based army from the ancient romans on up). You wield it. It provides no att/def bonus. It never breaks. It always drops on death. Perhaps they could come in a few colors or varieties so you could form teams based on the flag.

 

With that item as a basis, you could then design most any sort of game around it that you want.

Let there be a NPC in KF.

 

You buy a special steel shield from this NPC for, lets say 5k gc. When worn, it gives you some goodie, like more attack, defense, whatever. The NPC gives out random shields, you wont know what you get in advance.

 

Let there be a 2nd NPC in a fort in KF.

 

This NPC buys such shields for the same amount the first one sells them.

 

So one player/team buys that shield and tries to sell it to the 2nd NPC, the other player/team tries to stop them and get the shield (which has a 100% drop chance, of course).

 

So their motivation is to win the price for the shield, 5k, the motivation for the first player/team is the fun. The 2nd NPC can announce winners and loosers in channel 6, like leo does.

Not a shield, it needs to be useless ingame EL merchandise:

Radu miniature

Toilet paper with EL logo

Postcards

Autograph of quit EL legend

The making of documentary

Nude pics of Gossip

...

 

And to make it useless moneysink for someone, when leaving KF the items disappear into your counters/own (merchandise item) knowledge list. Gotta get them all, right?

Let there be a NPC in KF.
If we have some sort of non-breakable, 100% droppable item, this could be implemented with bots on most any PK map in the game. The advantage of using bots is that they could easily be relocated on a map, or to a different map to vary the game. The disadvantage is that the bots would need to trade roles or trade the items since they wouldn't have an infinite supply of items/gc and infinite space like an NPC does.
