darkguy Report post Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) So, I've created a chatroom for Eternal Lands players on GameSurge. ( http://www.gamesurge.net ) This way, you can chat with people when you're not on EL 1) You go to this webpage > http://www.gamesurge.net/chat/ 2) Type "/join eternallands elplayersonly" when you're on the welcome channel 3) Change your nick by doing /nick [new_nick] And Chat! ( You can also register your nick by going to this website > http://www.gamesurge.net/createaccount/ ) Edited May 18, 2008 by Chimeran Wolf
Marr Report post Posted May 18, 2008 why not making a channel in a more common used network like IrcNet or something?
LabRat Report post Posted May 18, 2008 Why not ask Entropy for permission to link a bot with an IRC channel and be a relay between a channel ingame and a channel on IRC?
darkguy Report post Posted May 18, 2008 I made the channel on a gaming network, the chatrooms that are popular but not about games are usually filled with spammers, hackers and evil people As for your suggestion labrat, I don't know how to do that actually, it may be a little hard ^^
Marr Report post Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) As for your suggestion labrat, I don't know how to do that actually, it may be a little hard ^^ not that hard but this would open a big spam hole, because every idiot could join the channel and spam/harass ppl in el. LabRat Report post Posted May 18, 2008 Nah it would be a piece of cake: connect bot to IRC and EL Upon channel message (from anyone other than the bot) in EL broadcast it to IRC Upon channel message in IRC (from anyone other than the bot) broadcast it to EL (possibly with language filtering if required by g0d) The bot could have ingame PM help that would tell the IRC network and channel. To be honest though I personally think that this would be more of a proof of concept idea than something that would see any real use. not that hard but this would open a big spam hole, because every idiot could join the channel and spam/harass ppl in el.If the bot controlled the channel it could set a password to access the channel. Not the best solution in the world, but still - a solution.
darkguy Report post Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) We'll have to buy a new bot for that right? I can add a password to the channel too Edited May 18, 2008 by Chimeran Wolf
LabRat Report post Posted May 18, 2008 Possibly not, it could either be an extra feature for an existing bot or be put forward for consideration as a community bot.
Marr Report post Posted May 18, 2008 We'll have to buy a new bot for that right?I can add a password to the channel too what wouldnt help much because you have to tell the password everyone who wants to join in, public password == no security at all ;p and about the costs, as it would be a community bot, it could be free but you need to talk to teh god first
Aislinn Report post Posted May 18, 2008 Hasn't this been suggested, tried, suggested and suggested some more?
darkguy Report post Posted May 18, 2008 OK, added password protection against non-el players. now you need to type /join eternallands elplayersonly
Eternity Report post Posted May 18, 2008 For people who use IRC and haven't figured it out, you can connect to the room on there as well. /server irc.gamesurge.net /join #eternallands elplayersonly For some strange reason, they don't seem to have NickServ, so I guess you can only register on the website.
