Llynara and the Dreaded Hawk

Recommended Posts

I came up with this story in GM one night and cleaned it up a bit, had Llyn Edit it. And Here it is. :)

There once was an Elven beauty named Llynara. Her hair was white as snow. She was betrothed to a fierce Knight of the Roundtable. One lovely day, she was out skipping around Idaloron, searching for a rare flower only found in this region. She was leaning over; looking into a bush for this bloom when all of a sudden, a shadow flew over her. She looked into the sky but there was nothing there. She started looking for the flower again, and saw another shadow whisk by. She jumped back and looked up to see a fearsome hawk flying over her.

It swooped down and attacked her, but poor Llyn was no fighter; she was a potioner by trade. The hawk was winning the battle. In desperation, she reached for the gift her beloved had given her; a special enchanted ring that would freeze anyone it was used against. She used the disengagement ring, and ran back to her beloved in Emerald Valley.

She ran into their house and told him all that had transpired. Korrode, the draegoni, was furious. He donned his best armor and grabbed his enchanted sword; then went to a cabinet and stocked up on everything he would need to fight a fierce battle. He stormed out of the house, leaving his love behind where she was safe. He strode across Emerald Valley as fast as he could. He finally reached Idaloron and searched for the the place Llyn said she had been. After a few minutes he found the spot where the battle was fought. The grass was trampled and speckled with Llyn's blood. Korrode seethed at the sight, his fury growing. He wanted that cursed bird dead!

He took out a potion that his sweet Llyn had made especially for him, uncorked the vial and drank it. His sight became keener and clearer; he could see far into the distance now. After searching the skies, Korrode set his sites on his foe. A fierce creature of the skies, Korrode ran after the bird. When he got within range he stretched out his hand and screamed towards the bird, "imprecorari!" . A beam of light shot out from his palm, striking the bird out of the sky. It fell into a clearing a hundred yards from where Korrode was. He ran over to see if it was dead.

When he came to the edge of the clearing, the bird was standing in the center of the clearing, tearing at its wings. Korrode had damaged its left wing badly, it no longer could fly. He held his magic sword high in the air and stormed into the clearing, racing towards the bird to end its life. His titanium armor shone in the sun and light glinted off his sword as he reached the bird. The bird struggled in vain to get back into the air. Before Korrode could swing his sword down the bird scratched out and damaged his Titanium torso. Korrode did not let this stop him; the armor meant nothing to him compared to his lovely Llynara. He swung the sword down with all his might, cleaving the birds head off. His deed was done.

He surveyed his armor, cursing at the bird he snatched it up and shoved it into a bag, then began walking the long way back home. As he drew nearer, Llyn threw open the door and looked at him. Korrode smiled at her and took the dead bird out of the bag. She looked from the the bird to him, then breathed a sigh of relief and ran towards him. He threw aside the bird and opened his arms as she reached him and gave him a big kiss. She was safe once again.

The end
