Mango Report post Posted October 16, 2006 Since like 2 days, when I start el.exe, it uses 95-100% of cpu... all the time. This is makes me somehow lagging big time. It isnt about fps or graphics. Even with max fps 10, and 640x.... x16 it still uses all cpu? I thought anyone might had the same problem once and know any solutions? Thanks in advance, Manderine

Thanks in advance, Manderine It depends on what h/w features your video also supports. For example, for most Intel chips, most of 3D work is done in s/w, not h/w, so 100% cou usage is normal. El tries to run as fast as the graphics card allows and on some systems that means the cpu is pegged, on others the video card is pegged, and on my lap top if I remove the FPS limit, both are pegged. Have you tried with disabling some of the eye candy, like reflections or shadows and see what the effect is? If you do that and your FPS goes up, consider adding FPS limitting and seeing if your CPU usage drops.
Mango Report post Posted October 17, 2006 (edited) Thanks for reply. Sorry to say, but its not that. I always played with all eye candy off, the lowest of lowest. I got a 2200+ AMD, with gf 4200ti, and 1024 mem. It always ran fine. Just tested the fps limitting... from 30fps and higher it uses all cpu. At 15 fps, it uses 50% cpu. But I always played it, without any problems at max fps... ~60. Could it be anything in EL or some kind or virus, trojan who is using my cpu... via el.exe or something? Oh, and is there a way to cut off cpu usage to a program.. like telling the maximum amount of cpu it is allowed to use? Iam going to bed now Ill be back tomorrow. Night all. If you suspect a virus or Trojan I suggest you make an in-depth scan of your system, and while you're at it it doesn't hurt to do a bot search as well (Ad-Aware o Spybot S&D will usually do the trick)

Then a S&D scan, it found all like 14 virusses , all removed succesfully. And I also did a full scan with Norton, which didnt find anything. Still 100% usage tho... Ill delete all things of EL now, and reinstall, who knows...
Mango Report post Posted October 17, 2006 Deleted al EL folders... reinstalled it again. Seems to work. When I press ctrl-alt-delete, I see el.exe using like 30%, then it skips up to 100%. But I dont get lag so... Thanks all maybe the scanning did pay off.
Derin Report post Posted October 17, 2006 You might want to try to install the latest graphics drivers as well. GeForce TI 4200, should use: ForceWare Release 90 Version: 91.47 Release Date: September 14, 2006 And limiting the FPS to like 25 could be a good move too.
