Enhancement to Life Drain Spell

OK search the forum and couldn't find this suggestion so here goes.

 

I want to change the life drain spell to be more useful and longer lasting

 

1. Leave the initial drain at 10 as it is now when cast

2. Allow the spell to continue draining 1 life point every 2 seconds from the target but drain 1 mana each 2 seconds

3. The drain will stop when any of the following occurs:

a) The casters mana is depleted

:blink: The target dies

c) The target casts magic protection (the un-used early spell)

d) The target escapes from your vision

e) Dis rings do not stop the drain!!

f) The casters health points reach maximum

g) The caster dies

 

This change would make this a great spell in combat

 

Hope you like the suggestion.

I'm not sure whether it wouldn't make this spell too powerful, what's more I would like to hear opinion of the PKers about it.

lol what would the PKers be scared of - losing against someone that doesn't fight - it will add more strategy and give us ways to protect ourselves from the evil PKers :>

Right about what - you're scared of dieing! :blink::blink:

 

I dont know what the continued drain should be but you have lots of ways to stop it:

Run, Kill, Die, Cast protection

 

and of course you can always cast it yourself!!! :blink:

 

Additionally the caster should not be able to cast another spell or if they do this one is cancelled

 

That will reduce its potency

What I see as a problem - somebody jump in - cast spell, jump out from PK area - w00t amazing tactics! (Still no)

I dont think that would really work because of

d) The target escapes from your vision

Hehe, yep, that's Vanyel for 'ya :) There are spells in other games like this called DOTs, damage over time spells, that someone will take X damage over the course of Y time. Except for this one, it steals health.

You know, this spell would be really powerful. What means that it casting level should be higher than it is now, at least lvl 50-55.

1 or 2 hits and you are dead.. do you really think you can steal 115 hp within that time? :P

Seriously though yes i can see that maybe it should be a higher lvl spell.

 

I could easily see a strong fighter and a mage/summoner teaming up and being a great combination, or even a group of mages draining a fighters life away whilst dodging him - what a combination.

Honestly Im not sure I like it, very powerful yes. But I would rather see other spells come in first.

poison isn't completely useless, it may only do one point per minute, but it also prevents normal healing and if the person has fast recovery it prevents that 3 gain and removes 1, so it's like -4 per minute.
