death_merchant Report post Posted November 14, 2005 (edited) hey, i'm having just a couple problems with my EL, when i get to the login page i type my name and password in, then press log-in, the screen goes black and i can see some of my items, but before it fully loads it always says eternal-lands caused an illegal opperation, and it says this every time i log in. is this happening to anyone else? or just me? lol alright thank you Edited November 14, 2005 by death_merchant
Derin Report post Posted November 14, 2005 Read the troubleshooting guide, found here: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18846 Update your graphics drivers, links can be found here: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13060 If this doesn't work for you. Try this: 1. Uninstall your EL installation and remove the EL folder from your system. 2. Downoad the game client from: http://www.eternal-lands.com/index.php?content=download 3. install the game 4. Download the update from: http://www.eternal-lands.com/index.php?content=update 5. Install the update 6. death_merchant Report post Posted November 19, 2005 i tried logging in again, and before i even like got in it says the instruction at "0x7c91142e" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
ttlanhil Report post Posted November 19, 2005 i tried logging in again, and before i even like got in it says the instruction at "0x7c91142e" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". hrum. please post a copy of your el.ini, strip out the comments, only the lines starting with an # are relevant also, some graphics cards and their drivers can give problems, what type do you have? the "developed with dev-cpp" message is the same as most people will get, that's just what was used to make EL and for those interested in what the rest of the error means... EL is trying to get information without an address in your computers' memory (which it needs to be able to chose what info it gets)
death_merchant Report post Posted November 19, 2005 i have an SiS 760 graphics card...and thats the only thing i understood in the last reply lol, i just wanna play el XD
Arnieman Report post Posted November 19, 2005 i have an SiS 760 graphics card...and thats the only thing i understood in the last reply lol, i just wanna play el XD SiS cards - IIRC - don't really work with EL, now - what we require of graphics just isn't what they handle. I could be wrong about this one, but I don't think any SiS cards are supported now.
Derin Report post Posted November 19, 2005 That is true Arnieman, the SiS cards are know to work poorly with EL. I suggest getting a newer and better card.
death_merchant Report post Posted November 19, 2005 ok...well what graphics card can you recommend that is really cheap and can "handle" el, i don't want to spend a 100 bucks for a graphics card
