  1. New invance rules discussion

No, you shouldn't stop doing that. But I think all these automated boot procedures discussed here are no solution. Besides that point I personally vote quite for a share for tanks and rangers. But that's nothing which can have a fair and automatic solution either. My impression is really that people here try to cure something which actually needs no cure but an occasional moderator. And you'll need the occasional moderator no matter what mechanism you emply. If moderation tools need improvement, then do that. But don't complicate the game and rules so that an occasional invancer will stand no chance anymore to both know and fulfill them
  2. New invance rules discussion

+1. And especially the last sentence should imho silence all those who whine about someone supposedly or actually being afk. Active melee people get their reward not only in XP but also in gc. Active mages and rangers might get a share, but also get their additional XP by actually using their skill.
  3. New invance rules discussion

I find that an excellent idea!
  4. invance afker solution(s)

Sounds to me like this moderation tool should then be enhanced.
  5. invance afker solution(s)

Generally there's no progammatic solution to social problems. IMHO invances work pretty well - especially as also the gate keeper or tanks profit from the current way it is handled. All other solutions only seem to make those roles less attractive or at least complicating the process. The few times where people abuse the system surely can be reported and then be dealt with by moderators in due time.
  6. That is really great news :-) All the best and get well soon!
  7. This is very sad news; I'll miss you - as great friend and also as fun, very helpful and generous player where I was lucky to meet you when I was still relatively new to EL. I wish you all the best wherever the journeys take you. I'll include you in my prayers and will hope to meet you again.
  8. Forgot my password for the game

I severely hope that this single item from the things you mention does NOT hold true. Would be quite a blunder and unprofessional. Also admins must never be allowed to retrieve passwords - only to reset them.
  9. While I agree to this paragraph, I fail to follow you in the first step: how or why does generally increased emu or double harvesting speed incite more group events? I'd expect that it works better, if e.g. harvesting speed is increased by, say, 10% for every guildie or ally sitting within X steps and harvesting the same.
  10. WS Sewers, getting damaged

There's also poisonous gas around in some places :-)
  11. Making Pickaxes...

I wholeheartedly agree. Antisocial perk for many is just free PP's, and should not be made easier! +1
  12. Where did the removals go?

Assuming chances to be 1/2 each time, your luck is not worse than not throwing 6+6 with two dice, rolling them each time together 5 times. Quite probable actually Probability doesn't mean equally spaced or distributed in time. People usually confuse the two.
  13. Quests

What radu was referring to was the tutorial quest, not the other quests i guess. AND: If you can't bother to find a quest (what IS a relevant part of the quest itself) and "does not like searching for NPC's that give quests" why would you be willing to do the quest ? I tell you why, just because of the reward. I think that's quite an over-simplification. Quests give a reward, yes. It's one reason. But another strong - and IMHO at least as strong reason - is that they give "purpose". A meaning to spending your time with the game by doing something wrt a specific goal - which does not involve (mindlessly klicking and) killing dozens and hundrets of <whatever> to gain XP nor to sit around for hours to harvest for gc and ultimately XP in skill involving mixing. As such, IMHO infamous' argument to make some major (not all!) quests better visible is a valid and good argument. Persuing quests is a rewarding play style - and yet a playstyle totally distinct to the harvest+mix and the killing playstyle. But asking the players to talk to each NPC (again and again) to possibly find out that he has a new quest might not be the best. Also the visibility would generally enhance the awareness of the quests like "wait, that NPC has a quest...?!. Let's check" while you actually were doing something entirely different. I also think it's not true that such indication of "I have a quest" would incite people mindlessly using a walk-through. If you want to do that, you anyway find the pages which give you NPC, their place and what to do - totally independent of whether you now find see the NPC this way ingame or not. It doesn't... for the reason above. Or maybe the NPCs which you talked to last in your quest (or those which you were sent to explicitly by name in an open quest) could get an indication - again as reminder to like "hey, you have a quest, you could continue". I can find out in my quest log. But it's lengthy and I need to checkout each of the open ones which I came accross. Of course, you want those. And there's no saying that people who get told "hey, quest!" would skip this or find that boring more often than people on average do with the current system. Actually less so, I'd assume. Currently you can mindlessly click through NPCs and see whether it triggers a quest entry... which encourages not reading.
  14. General issues and errors.

I can stay online a whole 24 hours till my service provider disconnects me once every 24 hours - no lost connection ever. Thus I presume it's rather somewhere in your service provider's network or on route. Your ping spikes seem to indicate this as well - after all a lag out (grue) is nothing different than an even slower ping. Many service providers nowadays exercise some kind of "traffic shaping" which doesn't work well with some things - especially games which need a constant rate; these packages are not indicated as "priority traffic" - as opposed to VoIP services for instance. wrt crashes: I used to get crashes *a lot* (like daily) as long as I played the game with sound enabled. As soon as I switched off sound, I didn't see a single crash anymore (playing on OSX).
  15. The EL _ Impics

On the chance to digress further, I think these are good points: Yes, indeed. That's IMHO a "good enough" reward for any contest. Or maybe 1k FE ings. Or a small novice player magic set (10 dis, 5 evtr, 5 votd, 5 narlik, 2 star medallion) maybe. Or a fortune teller set with 5 astro indicators of each type. There's many possibilities for nice, useful but not ueber-expensive prices which come especially useful to novice players. I fully agree. It's not always easy to be online on a specific time or date, provided you have a RL and a day job, too. I have cheerish memories of LLL's last annual(?) event day with some seeks, tag games etc. I think EvanMarie has a good point: just make a small contest out of it. No "big" contest. Just run it when you have time. Maybe you know in advance that you'll be on the next weekend; thus post a message here and make an arrangement with the mod team to get a global announcement then (how does it work anyway?) Sadly I missed that. But I suppose it was great fun.
  16. Marsuvess aka Mirim

Excuse me to drop in... wouldn't this count as ban evasion?
  17. Mixing Haven

Just wondered what ings are required for these? gcs :-)
  18. Mixing Haven

Excellent idea and I wish you much success with this :-) I have to agree here, though. A 5% extra in ings and food should cover your failures while still allowing some earnings for you. It would also make it easier for the customer as s/he then really knows what they get (100% products for 105% ings+food). Why do you prefer bones & toads over PoF? I'll happily be of aid to help you extend this service (currently alch 64, manu 29).
  19. scammer kilo55

I saved kilo55's deathbag twice, knowing him as a guildy I trust. On the 2nd I accidentially added my MMC to the return items but didn't notice for some time as I was busy killing Trolls. Later I noticed and tried to contact kilo55 for a few hours without success. then this: [21:10:28] [PM to kilo55: I'd REALLY appreciate if you could reply...] [21:10:50] [Dendar @ 3]: buying up to 4k steel bars @ 68 [21:11:13] [PM from kilo55: best investment of my life 300 gc for 12000] [21:11:21] [smoke_Br @ 3]: Sell 10k FEs and 1 EFE [21:11:25] [PM to kilo55: excuse me?] [21:11:46] [teehee @ 3]: selling titanium set 200k w/o shield/helm, handcrafted by sexii gnome hands [21:11:58] [koizu @ 3]: buyingHoS removal pm me pls [21:12:14] [PM from kilo55: i gave you 300 gc] [21:12:32] [PM from kilo55: you gave me mm cape seems fair] [21:12:44] [PM to kilo55: ehm... what? I saved your DB and you pull this on me?] (times in UT+2)
  20. scammer kilo55

I don't think he died. He said he accidentally added his MMC along with the returned stuff, probably while trading the items back to kilo55. Exactly that. As I was dealing with a - presumably trustworth - guildy I didn't double-check.
  21. Portland map

What makes you believe so? 7z is a compression algorithm available on all major OS, including OSX. And if you know where your EternalLands stores the maps (maybe inside the .App folder) you can also copy that map file there after unpacking.
  22. 40-60 invance

I'm probably also a similar build like you, all-rounder with a load of nexus. I'm currently about to leave the 40-60 invance range with p/c 24/26 roughly all the time I went to the 40-60 instances. I've been going through the invances initially with augs, but most time with iron gear and a rdholm and a s2e, frying pan and meanwhile ti serpent. That is my best gear and it allows me to have some fun there while I still have to be quite cautious. I could skip the rdholm and replace it for an iron helm, but the extra life really is essential for me to be effective and not die immediately when I encouter a boss monster. Other friends got into it in leather augs and with a frying pan - they might have slightly better p/c than me. Yet others go in titanium armour with scythe and similar or recurve bows and tiger stones. Definitely bring disengagement rings and BR, and SR and HE as well. You may consider summoning stones if you're a summoner. Also a set of replacement armour (maybe augs and a replacement weapon, should something break) can come in handy. I died a few times, but I always was lucky enough that friends saved my DB and returned the stuff to me. Thus stay with a small group (two or so) of trusted and jointly walk around so that you can cover up for eachother and also jointly bash a boss (Feros or Fluffy or WhiteTiger are the worst imho, I still can't beat them alone).
  23. What do you do while you harvest?

A harvester doesn't "take away" anything from another player. While an afk figher "steals" the spawn from players who actively play. Harvestables are unlimited, monsters are limited.
  24. God Please Save PK - Fighters

Quite so. Another though similar idea might be to level-cap whole PK maps. Thus they're accessible to PK without the constant fear to be killed in one strike by a fighter playing in a totally different league, to give dis rings, true sight potions etc also for noobs and newbies a useful meaning.
  25. **Generation X**Harvesting** - the 3rd Degree

uhm... read the first page: "Pricing (Maximum order is 5x10k for ALL ITEMS except where indicated):" (and coal is not indicated)
