Ohhh cellophane noodles. I love those. I might try a less spicy version of this. Thanks for the idea!

You can eat "Larp Mot Daeng" in Thailand which is a spicy dish (larp) made with red (daeng) ants (mot). They make nests in trees made out of leaves of the tree they pull together while they are still connected to the tree so the leaves don't die. They have a very painful bite. The nest is knocked out of the tree with a long pole of bamboo to much amusement to those doing it as they swipe the defending ants off their arms
For me it's rather distressing to eat as the odd ant has some how avoided the carnage and is running around the rim of the bowl and a few not so lucky are sticking their heads up out of the food waving their antennas and pleading "Save me, save me!". The rest of course are way past caring.
Their is another dish "Larp Kai Mot Daeng" which is made with the eggs of the same ants. Much easier to eat.

I'd have to be starving at death's door for me to voluntarily eat bugs, especially if they are still crawling around. Ick.
