Well, to put it simple, Nvidia doesn't make video cards, they make video card chips. The Go chips are used by laptop manufacturers to incorporate them in their laptops. Nvidia does make drivers for all their chips (I mean, for the supported chips), but since the Go chips are used in a slightly different way than the normal ones (they need to support more power management, different resolutions, and so on), the mainstream nvidia drivers won't work with them, so the laptop manufacturers need a customized version that works for their specific laptop.

 

In this particular case, you will need to convince your laptop maker to provide you with the latest nvidia drivers out there (OpenGL version 2.1.2, as reported by the video card).

 

Well I emailed the alienware support center. Hopefully they'll respond.

This is what the fucktards from Intel told me when I told them that I am the developer of Eternal Lands and I want to speak with their drivers department people, to report a few problems.

yes, it happens when it's off

 

Tested it a bit more ... it happens also when fog is on ...

 

It happens in both igloos on IOTF too (teleport flickers), but not in that one in Iscalrith ...

Ok, found another bug that has to do with my compiler: If you rename the shaders directory (or remove the .vert files) but your video card supports the actor vertex programs, it will crash.

I'll provide a fixed version later in the day (after I wake up).

mmm...i'm in windowed mode and the system uses 32bit colors, so i guess EL is 32bit too.

 

Moreover if i try to switch to 16bit (both windowed and fullscreen) it reverts back to 32.

 

Maybe is the lack of framebuffer?

with the 24_02_07 version I get the runtime error as soon as the game starts loading (long before login screen). Renaming shaders folders makes no difference.

Wondering why the versions are not named xx_02_08 ;)

Videocard: integrated Intel on Dell laptop, running poorman

Yes, that happens if you remove/rename the shaders dir or the .vert things.

Ok, if you don't have a frame buffer, turn off the reflections and shadows, see if that makes a difference.

 

 

No difference, but i noticed an interesting thing. If i stand behind a npc and move the cursor from me to it, it changes from the eye cursor (on me) to the walk cursor (on NPC). So it seems actors are there, but are not recognized as such, just as obstacles.

Thats true... but you dont have to kick fight with the horse ;) Use your mind :laugh:

 

As for newest ForceWare drivers for GeForce Go serie cards (for Windows)

It works for me, it seems newest drivers match for all Go computers, but INF file saying they are not.

So you have to simply 'trick' the installer/updater.

 

Short version:

 

1. Download newst ForceWare drivers from nvidia.

2. Unzip it (it will start installing, but break cuz no compatible card detected, but that doesn't matter...

3. Copy the INF file mentioned in thread I posted to directory where you unzipped drivers.

4. Update graphics drivers using your Admin Panel from location with unzipped drivers.

 

Should help... it does for me :]

Your client crashes when login is completed with shaders/ but crashes during initial loading at 'Initialising OpenGL Extensions' if I rename shaders/

 

Hope I am not out of line posting this

 

Bringing together a couple of threads I can successfully compile and run the client although I do see a lot of flickering, but it crashes when I %use_animation_program 1 ingame.

 

Your latest compile options post mixed with my use_animation_program default to 0 patch works fine for me.

el main --use_animation_program=0

No need to patch and compile yourself.

Using the --use_animation_program=0 option (with poorman still on) works with the _24_ client. I can interact with creatures. without this options it crashes with the runtime error. Thanks ago/HTH.

Video card: RADEON 9200 Series DDR x86/SSE2

Vendor ID: ATI Technologies Inc.

OpenGL Version: 1.3.1072 WinXP Release

 

My driver version is 6.14.0010.6614 from the ATI website. This is the newest driver for my card I have been able to find.

 

It crashed when I tried to logon. I was in PV when I logged off. And since you said it will still crash on some maps I will try again after I'm done harving in PV and go to a diff map. When I do I will update this post. Also I did try renameing the shaders file but I got a runtime error. I also tried turning shadows and reflections off in the config file.

 

 

Crashed when trying to log in in trassian also.

Well, as expected, I've been given the run-around! I contacted HP's live-chat support and chatted with a very helpful pleasant person who unfortunately could tell me nothing, nor help me with anything. I've also tried contacting nvidia, but I'm not holding my breath.

 

I am tempted to try Gen_Axis's h4x, I think I know enough about backing up and rolling back to not screw up my system permanently if it doesn't work... wish me luck! :hehe:
