Arrows test

Recommended Posts

Well, you might remember that about 1 year ago some of us tested some collision detections on the test server. That code was supposed to be for the arrows, but for 11 months no one implemented the client part.

Now Schmurk (from Del) implemented the client support as well. He is the guy who implemented most of the server support last year. He did about 70% of the programming work, and I did the rest of the 30%.

Anyway, now we have arrow support on the test server and in the client. It is not all done yet (infinite arrows, no exp, no chance to miss), but what we have now is very usable for a test.

So here are the instructions: Download the test file: http://www.eternal-lands.com/arrows_test.zip and install it.

Go on the test server.

OBEY WHAT I SAY No begging, no doing what I tell you not to do, and so on. This particular test requires a lot of inter-human coordination, so you must do precisely what I say, or else you wil be banned from the test server.

If you have problems with the installation, do not post here, and just wait until the client update. This post is only for people who have the computer skills to do the required stuff.

For the Linux people, get the zip I posted and install it, then get the cvs, make sure you compile with the arrow support (should be in the makefile), and that should be it.

Mac users will have to wait until Florian or someone else can provide a binary.

If you find any bug, please post it here.

P.S. It is safe to install the files over your current el files.

Also, please post any VISUAL bugs here.

Sit/stand with the bow & quiver on, and post any screenshots of any oddities(such as the strap going into your body).

Forget about it, out of 5 people at least 4 installed the stuff incorrectly, so I am going to do some private testing with other developers.

[Edit] Actually, all 5 installed it wrong.

No more public tests from now on.
