Guest shine Report post Posted April 15, 2006 (edited) I am the editor of mmosite,I just had an interview with Radu Privantu. Maybe some questions of the interview will attract you. Simon:What plans do you have for community development and support? Have you ever considered opening pet system in EL to increase the fun of the game? Are there any new events on your schedule? Radu Privantu:We did CONSIDER having a pet system, but we decided against it, because of technical reasons. For example, the pets would cause lag, especially if everyone has a pet and their pets walk with them all over. Some areas in the game, such as storage places, are crowded as they are, and having pets there would make the game unplayabe for many people, and placing an addiitonal bandwidth burden on the server. As for new events, sure, we always add new content to the game. For example, one feature that is implemented and in testing now is the guild merchant NPC, which can be hired by guilds to sell their items.Other features include new resources to be gathered, new armors and weapons, the possibility to become invisible (just for 20 seconds or so), different visibility at night time and during storms, player owned houses, and so on.Of course, right nwo there are only two server programmers, including me, so we can only do so much. But those features will be implemented this year,hopefully... duran Report post Posted April 15, 2006 (edited) hmm, 20 seconds of invisibility... and i would love to see the manu system be redone, similar to what is being hinted at for new items, so that it covers old items allso. could probably be done when people have gotten used to the new items and their system, and a few baseline items at first (like say the raw materials like metals) and then moving upwards in the chain of production... but what i realy want to see is summoners and magicans being able to produce something that can be sold while training their skill. right now that cant be done, making either more of a hobby for those that can afford or make the needed resources in large quantitys... Entropy Report post Posted April 17, 2006 They won't, the magic is useful as it is.
Roja Report post Posted April 17, 2006 The magic system will be vastly improved however. And when we get a programmer who knows how to do magic effects, we'll have that too
mathtutor Report post Posted April 18, 2006 Well I am looking forward to all the new implements in the future and if there is any way I can help dont be afraid to ask. I am not a openGL programmer but I am looking to go it to it as a side career along with Critical Needs Nursing.
Roja Report post Posted April 18, 2006 Well you can certainly try to do any programming that we have posted
duran Report post Posted April 18, 2006 They won't, the magic is useful as it is. yea right... outside of the fighters that train magic on the side to use it instead of healing potions (as you can have a single hotkey linked to healing as long as you got the mana for it) magic is one big money drain that act more as a hobby for the rich then anything else... ok, so maybe one could ask for paymnt to heal someone. but there is allready people running around healing for free at isla prima and other places. and most of the other spells only benifit the caster iirc... basicly magic is more useless then summoning, and have not been updated since it got implemented. and when summoning stones get added to the game, im guessing that they can be sold to others. this gives summoners a independent income based on their skill, something the mages dont have given that they cant create stuff to sell (and what services they can theoreticaly get payment for, is easy to train for or just not worth it). Entropy Report post Posted April 18, 2006 What I meant by "the magic is useful as it is" I meant the magic skill is inherently useful, not that the actual state of the magic is good. There will be new spells in the medium term future.
