F6 (Transparency in the slide bar)

Recommended Posts

Im not sure how many people use the function F6, but I think it would be nice if it would be saved in options or something? Maybe under hud?

Also whenever I go to history or F1 my little side inventory goes away while in F6 mode, maybe make it so it dosnt do that?

Nvm

I'd use it if anyone could tell me how to use "transparent" textures for compass and analog clock in F6 mode.

I can see them in textures catalog, yet I don't know how to use them without messing with files.

What I get atm looks rather ugly:

Transparency:

make an image the same height and width as the original image, 256 colours.

If the image is called cape1_brown.bmp before the .bmp add "_alpha" so it would be called cape1_brown_alpha.bmp

Set palette entry #0 to white (#FFFFFF), #255 to black (#000000)

Use those 2 entries to make the image.

black is transparent, white is opaque.

cape1_brown_alpha.bmp.jpg

(I know the above image is called .jpg, it is to get round the forum's issue with not wanting to display .bmp images)

The above image is to give a trimmed harvester cape.

Quite clear. However :

1. There are already clock and compass images with transparent(?) background

2. The clock and compass images are in a bmp file containing several/a lot of other images (gamebuttons2.bmp for the opaque backgrounds,

gamebuttons.bmp for transparent backgrounds) and

3. faces for the clock and compass are different between those 2 files.

So the solution of creating an alpha map is not really all that evident _in_this_case_

same principle just make the alpha file the same size as the multiple image file and make everything you don't want alphablending white (most of the image)

When "relocate quickbar" option is on, quickbar disappears in transparent mode in console, sounds like a bug..
