Promose Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Every time I login to Eternal Lands I get an end now message. Sometimes I can see one line of conversation from some random person. It starts up perfectly fine but after I type my password in and it changes from the title page to the game interface it gives me the message. Some screenshots below: Before I get to the title page.. I don't know if this has to do with anything but I'll put it anyways.. End Now message.. Most of the technical error info looked like this: ^^The tech section was waaay too long to get all of it on here so.. I only did a screenshot of that section^^ Thanks, Promose
Entropy Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I guess the system specs are irrelevant, right? Otherwise you would have posted them.
Promose Report post Posted January 6, 2008 Oh, yea I suppose that would help Umm here they are: System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Computer: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz 2.79GHz, 512MB of RAM I should tell you that my hard drive crashed in... July I think, and I got a new one. Just in case available memory has something to do with it, the C drive properties says it has a 74.5GB capacity, 23.2GB used, 51.3GB available I downloaded the music package for the game and put those files in the game's music folder before I tried starting the game just in case that has something to do with it. You can probably tell I have no idea what I'm doing

bluap Report post Posted January 9, 2008 I couldn't open el.cfg.. what program did you use? They meant el.ini, located in your personal settings directory which is shown when you start the client.
Promose Report post Posted January 10, 2008 I opened it and it was already at zero, so I changed it to 1 and it still didn't work. I have it switched back to 0 now.

Promose Report post Posted January 13, 2008 It's still not working. This is exactly what I did: -Uninstalled Eternal-Lands -Re-installed Eternal-Lands from www.Eternal-Lands.com -Downloaded and saved the patch to my desktop (it didn't give me the option to save it anywhere else ) -Opened my EL directory (C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands) -Dragged the new client patch thingy into the above location -A box popped up asking if I wanted to overwrite the old client, I said yes (so the location is now C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands\Eternal-Lands Client -Closed the EL directory -Started EL -Got the error message after logging in Did I do something wrong? bluap Report post Posted January 13, 2008 -Opened my EL directory (C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands) .... (so the location is now C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands\Eternal-Lands Client Have you renamed the client executable or are those locations different directories/folders? When you start the client, how are you doing that, clicking on a desktop shortcut or clicking on the executable in the file manager?
Promose Report post Posted January 13, 2008 -Opened my EL directory (C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands).... When you start the client, how are you doing that, clicking on a desktop shortcut or clicking on the executable in the file manager? By "C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands" I was just referring to what I thought was the EL directory so anyone could correct me and tell me what the actual directory is IF I got it wrong. "C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands\Eternal-Lands Client" is what the path is to the client.. I guess I typed it wrong. It would actually be "C:\Program Files\Eternal Lands\el". No, I didn't rename it. To open it I've done both just to make sure I've tried all possibilities.
Entropy Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Try to enable poor_man in el.ini (in your data path).
Maxine Report post Posted January 14, 2008 If you dont know where to find the el.ini file try this: Start EL the normal way but do NOT log in. Instead, when the program finished loading, type ctrl+o to get the options window. In the options select the 'Detail' tab and check the 'poor man' box. Use ctrl+o to leave the options screen and proceed to log on. Hope it works. Maxine
Promose Report post Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) It didn't work. But thanks for the suggestion What should I try now? Edited January 17, 2008 by Promose
Promose Report post Posted January 17, 2008 So.. is it even possible for me to play EL, or should I just give up? I'm getting pretty close lol
bluap Report post Posted January 17, 2008 It said my driver version number was PV13.1 A quick search shows that there is a newer driver available for your card, 14.17, it might be worth trying that. Here's the link. Other than that, I think you have us stumped.
Promose Report post Posted January 18, 2008 Ok, I'm downloading it at this moment. I hope it works... otherwise I'm going to throw my computer out the window. THATS IT!!! I'M THROWING MY FRIKKIN COMPUTER OUT THE WINDOW! It gave me this message when trying to download. I give up. I guess I won't play EL anymore
