Peeves Report post Posted November 25, 2007 I enjoy fighting in Desert Pines Arena but recently long fights are pushing my levels up quickly, in several other games i've played there has been an option to turn off xp gains for characters to help others in quests and for pvp twinks. Will there ever be this option in EL? Or are we encouraged to just move on from level restricted areas.

teacher Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Whats the real point, if you turn off exp, you don't advance and turning it off so you can stay down with another person levels is rather, for lack of better words, dumb.

Maybe for you it seems dumb, you compete by being higher a/d (and p/c/skill I know). In arenas with limits it's about fine tuning your character within the limits which gets completely screwed up if you level from using your character doing what you made it for. Entropy Report post Posted November 26, 2007 That particular arena is for newbies, and once you are not a newbie anymore, you can't participate there (well, you can, but it's harder). I have no intention of making it so that you can PK there forever.

The "newbies" have full titanium and more importantly some have 100+ coordination and are capable of (and have) killeing members with more than double their a/d. I don't mean to sound patronising but do you know how popular the "twinking" is?

I'm so glad Ent said this because, as I see it, the only problem with PK in EL is not the way it's set up, but rather the way people abuse the way it's set up. I just posted a rather lengthy reply in the 'spirit of pk' thread that I now realize could be just as applicable here. http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...st&p=399807 I'm not directing this at you, Peeves, since I don't know if you've demonstrated any of this behavior, but certainly there are many people who try everything possible to stay in DP, and they make it impossible for those of us in the 30s to get to play, too. Little brown rabbits may be fun, but we all have to leave IP eventually. Edit: wrong link Edited November 26, 2007 by sygon

I agree with everything you said, especially the pointless killing of newbs training with each other (which I try to resist), but sitting in the arena with good stats gives you a huge feeling of power which I guess is what most people stay for. Right now im sitting outside the pk area whilst a low leveled member wanders around inside, and I just get a urge to jump in and kill. Kinda scary really. edit: Forgot to add, I find killing low levelled members pointless and abit boring now really, I don't use the items they drop and im not someone that enjoys having people scared of me. What I enjoy most is fighting other, higher stat members. Killing someone that has a/d levels much higher than the DPA limits is a great feeling, but sadly those people give me the most experience. Yes, and following your suggestion, people would be able to have even better equipment (turn off the a/d exp, while doing lots of other stuff, get massive p/c), so they could kill newbies even easier. Peeves Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Well i'm glad I got a straight forward answer even if it wasn't the one I was hoping for. Ideas for lowering the exp when fighting higher a/d are entering my head but i'm not going to push my luck. Thanks for your time Ent and thanks for making such a good, free game.
