character body rendering seems not working on linux amd64

I can't use the original binaries for Linux because they're compiled for i32 kernels and I'm using a i64 kernel on my AMD64 processor.

 

So, I checked out the CVS version and compiled it on my Debian AMD64. When I was playing with the 1.3.2 version, it worked just fine, now I download the update for the 1.3.3 version and everything renders fine but the characters body.

 

My graphic card is a nVidia GeForce 6200 with the latest nVidia binary drivers (1.0-9746).

 

Let me know if you need any information that may help to solve this problem.

Ok, it worked now enabling that "feature". Now, my question is, why is not set this flag by default on the make.defaults file?
