Text commands don't work!

I tried logging out and back in

I used (right mouse click- typed name- enter) to mark a location on the map.

Ever since then I cant use any text commands ("// hi" & "#beam me up" were two that I tried- out of the map screen)

The words come up on the bottom of the screen but when I press enter, nothing happens.

Am I making any mistakes? (I havnt been on in 4ever and 4got how to do these until I looked them up)

OR Is it a bug?

not sure what caused this, but if it is the map mark the caused it, you can remove the file 'mapname.elm.txt' in your EL directory ("c:\program files\eternal lands\" is default on windows) and the mapmarks for that map will be wiped.

if you're curious, you could also open the file up (it's just the coordinates and name, line after line). see if there are any blank lines in the middle, anything ithout two numbers and text, or anything else that might indicate hy the problem showed up

Is it in a folder b/c Im in the EL directory and I dont see it. Also sound is not working...maybe I should just reinstall the game- that usually seems to solve problems.

in your EL folder; depending on which map it'll be named like "map2.elm.txt" or "cont2map1.elm.txt" or whatever

I tried uninstalling and downloading the game and text commands and sounds (the teleport things arent making the tinkly noise- and nothing else for that matter) still do not work. Im not sure now that the problem was the map notes- that's just when I noticed it. I do know that everything worked before I downloaded the upgrade. Do we just post troubleshooting here?

For the processes...I have 43 and not enough time to list them all- programs added since last logged in and it definately worked:

Processes accociated with AVG (virus scanner), iTunes

I havnt been on since summer so before I tried anything I updated EL I do not know if it was from that or the map thing (above) or something else.

Some of these problems are usually cured with a graphics driver update, I suggest you try that.

There is a pinned topic in this forum called "Graphics problems", you need the ATi driver page.

Is it marking your text on the map? Or is it just not showing up anywhere?
