A few questions...

Recommended Posts

Hi I am running the latest version of el on a linux machine (kubuntu 5.10)

I was wondering If anyone knew how to make a shortcut that would launch the game as currently the only way is to cd to the directory and then type

./el.x86.linux.bin

There must be an easier way to do this.

also, how do you make a fire in el

and where can you go to mine?

thanks,

tmmuk

well, if you edit the el.ini and set the data_dir option to where you installed EL, that should work. if not, you can always do something like:

echo "cd /path/to/el;./el.x86.linux.bin;cd -"> ~/bin/elc
chmod u+x ~/bin/elc

that assumes you have a bin dir in your home dir, that's in your path. if not, you should know where else you can stick your script(teehee)

also, how do you make a fire in el

check the "?" button when ingame, it answers most newbie questions

and where can you go to mine?

depends what you want to mine. when you're in-game, ask on channel one where you can mine XXX (whatever you're after) and they'll tell you

but first check the encyclopedia (the "?" button, then encyclopedia tab, then harvesting, then whatever you're after) to see if you meet the prerequisites to mine it yet

thanks

thats all good exept this:

echo "cd /path/to/el;./el.x86.linux.bin;cd -"> ~/bin/elc
chmod u+x ~/bin/elc

not sure what im supposed to do with this

after typing this, what should I make the shortcut link to / the shortcut's command?

EDIT: got it worked out now.

by putting this code in the option for "command" in the properties for the el item, I got it to work:

cd /usr/local/share/games/el/; ./el.x86.linux.bin

thanks again
