Placid Report post Posted April 13, 2005 Hi, Have you attempted to clear any Viri or Spamware/Adware that may be existent on your computer? Use adaware (google it) for Adware, and something like Norton AntiVirus for Viri.

Placid Report post Posted April 13, 2005 hello, thx for the quick reply and yes i just tried that again, but still no change 152781 Hmmm. Have you attempted to re-install EL or tried the game on another machine? It could be that the machine is lagging for reasons other than spyware/viri. Also, are you performing any large downloads at the time of playing?
xephon Report post Posted April 13, 2005 i've reinstalled el several times but i havent tried another machine yet and no i wasnt downloading anything while trying to play i'll try my best to try another machine that uses the same isp

You might wanna give your modem a restart as well, or at least scour your harddrive for unwanted spyware (you can never be sure it doesnt exist). rasberrybeard Report post Posted April 13, 2005 (edited) Another thing that hogs bandwith in winxp is the automatic updates that go on in the background. Press ctrl-alt-delte and then end any uneeded tasks. Also make sure that your comp meets the requirments, and if it does, but still lags, you might want to update your video card drivers at whatever the homepage is for your card brand. If none of this helps, you may have to reformat you hardrive (back up ebverything you need of course.) If none of that helps then your just screwed. Placid Report post Posted April 14, 2005 A virus EDIT: okay, so i didn't read the whole thread... 152907 LOL! Have you tried replacing the hostname line in el.ini (located in the EL installation folder) to read: #host 62.93.225.26 Your DNS maybe having problems resolving the hostname eternal-lands.solexine.fr. Give that a try.
Leeloo Report post Posted April 14, 2005 Resolving the hostname is only done once - before connecting. There's no way it could cause a ping between 2 and 29 seconds. (At least not as long as EL uses TCP. A sufficiently creative programmer would be able to make it affect the ping with UDP, by doing a DNS lookup for every packet, instead of saving the reply).
