Derin Report post Posted December 5, 2004 (edited) Are you sure these maps work? aren't they in the wrong format? Shouldn't maps be 96 DPI and 8-bit colordepth and the size at 512x512? If you just resize they will not be very accurate, unless you test them carefully. As far as i can tell, you have 24-bit colordepth, which is too high. Although nice, these are base-maps. from here the real work begins; to resize, scale and align. Edited December 5, 2004 by Derin

Derin Report post Posted December 5, 2004 What kind of picture editor are you using? I use Photoshop, where you set the picture as indexed (allowing up to 256 colors), then save as BMP and it will be 8-bit color-depth. Otherwise (from different programs) I suggest looking at a feature where you can set number of colors, keep it at max 256 (216 will work just as fine i think), the the color depth should be 8-bit. Aitrus Report post Posted December 6, 2004 that cant be right, 256 is so ugly and Pennors maps are colourfull, mine looks technicolour
Derin Report post Posted December 6, 2004 MS paint is not really a good program for this. But it is 256 colors that you should go for. In programs like photoshop you have much more control of you output, MS paint is... just basic.

dns_server Report post Posted December 6, 2004 if you need a good image editor try Gimp it's free, and has a lot of usefull features, though it does act differently to photoshop. once you work out how to use it, it is one of the best imgage editors.
