    After downloading ebuild from bugs.gentoo.org

    Switch to root user

     

    1: Make sure you have a PORT_DIR_OVERLAY defined in /etc/make.conf (i have it as /usr/local/portage

    2: mkdir /usr/local/portage/games-rpg (if is does not exist)

    3: mkdir /usr/local/portage/games-rpg/eternal-lands

    4: cp eternal*.ebuild /usr/local/portage/games-rpg/eternal-lands

    5: cd /usr/local/portage/games-rpg/eternal-lands

    6: ebuild eternal-lands-1.1.0-r1.ebuild digest

    7: emerge -av eternal-lands

    Do you have a Norton Firewall product installed? If so, try disabling it for 5-10 minutes while you are experiencing this problem to see if that is teh issue. If you can connect again almost immediately, that may be the problem. IF so, search on this forum for norton. There is another thread talking about it.

    Not sure what the problem was. I have a/d of like 26/24. I put on my steel armor, shield, helm, and cuisses, snatched my tit short sword (that is the best I have), grabbed a load of HEs and went out expecting cyclopses. Managed to kill my very first Troll (barely). Don't whine about vaguery. Stay near the ship/buildings if you do not know what to expect. Duh!

     

    BTW: I only got a lousy 4gc from the Troll.

    For all you Don Juans out there, I humbly submit this list compiled by myself (Awn) with the help of tianna.

    Seeing as several ladies have notified me that they are bored with being hit on, here is the first:

    Top Reasons to NOT Hit on Females in EL

    1 They are usually a higher level than you

    2 Their idea of fun differs dramatically from yours, even in EL

    3 Anatomy and biology books are not what you think

    4 tit armor refers to Titanium, not anatomy

    5 They already have boyfriend's (often in the game)

    6 Their bf's are usually at least level 40

    7 Their bf's are cuter than you, both in game and in real life

    8 Their bf just might be a mod. It is unwise to play with fire

    9 Chances are, they are smarter than you

    10 They might be a guy who likes playing girls

    11 You have no chance of coming up with a pickup line they have not heard

    12 You are just going to embarass yourself in front of everyone

    13 They are not playing EL because they are bored

    14 No, they do not want to see your (sword/axe/staff/...)

    15 There are no love potions in EL

    16 The leather is for protection, probably from l33t b0yz.

    17 Girls that are 15 are not interested in 40 year old guys, no matter how much gold they have

    18 They always carry a ring of disengagement, and a ring of damage

    19 You can offer them wine, but they can't drink it
