  1. its not wrong. there is something like a $ to gc exchange because people need so much gc to buy something that the gc is worth RL $.

yes but pls answer the question how the exact rate is determined (like 7k gc per $ for example).

raise NPC price and manuers increase price, people need more gc and they buy more gc, increasing the amount of gc you get each $

people take that rate for their rosto/binding selling and prices go through the roof, again

no, just compare cutlass to COLs. even now, all COL ingreds together are cheaper than NPC price and that is so for a longer time already. The rare ingredients are distributed from the players to all the things you can make or do with them. So if you buy cutlass cheaper from NPC, then rare ingredients are saved for other items. But even if you start to sell COLs from NPC for 60k tomorrow, the players will have 'too few rare ingredients' - thats intentionally, they ARE MEANT to be rare. That doesnt mean at all that they fly through the roof with their prices. after all their prices is kinda fixed by shop price in real $.

your stuck in a vicious circle and the only solution you guys seem to come up with is just staying inside that circle complaining each time you get at the point where things dont sell anymore... and now you reached the limit and suggest to increase prices even more? sounds like a big joke :/

in a working economy providers strive for competition, providers stay competitive by offering goods at lower prices then other sellers..

just use some common sense and realise that you cant get feathers from a frog.. for those of you who dont get that, you cant expect people to pay what they dont have, focus on what they do have to spend and adjust prices according to that, thats when you sell the most, when you offer goods at an affordable rate.

no, neither the inflation nor the recession is a vicious circle, they just have selfsustaining tendencies. You are just favoring a recession while i prefer adaption to inflation.

  2. and increasing NPC prices is just being ignorant and ignoring the problem there is, increase NPC prices and you give manuers a reason to increase their prices more, what happens when they increase their prices more? thats right.. NPC will be cheaper again, and then you whine about a NPC price increase again.

what you are suggesting is just moving the problem to another date, a quick fix that wouldnt help much at all and would end up with the same issues again in a week or a month.

    sorry, but thats wrong.

Why is there something like an exchange rate $ to gc ?

Like Learner showed us with his rostogol stunt, the real price of rosto in game is just determined by the $-price from shop combined with that rate.

And thats true for all rare items that you can buy from the shop.

And the reason why cutlass from NPC is too cheap with 40k is exactly the price of the rare ingredients calculated as stated.

If we raise NPC selling price, the mentioned $-to-gc-ratio WILL NOT CHANGE, because its determined by other factors mainly.

    regards

  3. There is no need to increase NPC prices, thats stupid idea. With items more expansive than NPC sell price it's good for economy. Players will buy from NPC which means gc sink and it will lower consume of rare items.

lets do the same for all skills

    and thats exactly the point.

we dont have NPC selling COLs for 80k, but we have NPC that sells cutlass for 40k.

My 'solution' to raise NPC selling price was NOT a recommendation, it was only the solution to how to sell more handmade cutlasses if wanted.

But: you dont counter inflation with just demanding certain things like 'people shouldnt look for the best price' or 'this and that is overpriced'. After all the prices are set by the $-gc ratio on the inofficial market for gc.

If you want tokens from the shop, then you could as well just sell gc from the shop for $. And i still think that would be a good thing, even if ratio would be slightly worse than on black market, because you have less risks and the $ goes to the right one.

  4. generally green is good, red is bad, which means (posting the texts which were referred to):

    1) Make rare/failure indicator

Make rare: 696 (the lower, the better; positive is penalty)

Failure: 6 (the lower, the better)

    2) Harvest events inc./degrade indicator

Harvest Events Increase: -75 (the higher, the more events)

Degrade: -850 (the higher, the less chance to break)

in my example here all bars are on the red side.

Harvest events is the only astro where the green=good rule is debatable, because green means more events which is good if you are after stones, but bad if you want to harvest with few interruptions/breakages.

  5. SO why has that happened, why is it better not to mix and buy from npc?

Stones like binding and serpent are extremely expensive same for Enriched essence. I am not going to say that the drop rate of serpent stones or finding stones like enrichment and binding should be increased or that players that have bots always try to get better margin.

the answer is very simple: NPC prices werent adapted to the ingame inflation.

Solution is quite simple too: just raise many NPC prices...

  6. i think the basic question is:

would you prefer that some players post their own translation to their language at some website you cant control or do you prefer to integrate the translation into the EL-client.

Look at the wiki, its better info than ency. I'd recommend to USE the community power instead of being afraid. Would you rather attract new players or lose current ones?

  7. since radu removes One perk for players, when they buy that at the shop, i'd guess you just ask him to remove the One perk at your bot and pay for it... i dont see the problem here at all. You get what you pay for , either way.

  8. certain providers/companies filter port 2000 because you can access routers over it (roughly said).

But France certainly doesnt filter globally and especially not the provider of the EL game server.

So its either something on your machine or some carrier between you and the game server provider that blocks it.

  9. Train Fluffy until 105 attack.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

During your time training Cyclops and Fluffy, take your Vitality to 20, then build your Reasoning to 16 and then your Instinct to 16.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Feros

    Recommended p/c: 28/44

    Recommended Inst: 16

    Minimum def: 105

    Weapon: none

just training on fluffs and planning my PPs. Cant see why you would raise Reasoning to 16 here tbh. Instinct makes sense, but why have reasoning 16 for the feros after?

  10. FYI: black holes are not of pure energy, you might want to study physics and philosophy if you are really interested in discussing such things off such wrong assumptions.

btw it is indeed possible to test the theory of the event horizon being the border of black holes. And the currrent level of knowledge is that all known observations (e.g. quantum fluctuation of pair generation and the like) are in complete harmony with Einsteins theory.

Science doesnt strive to create absolute thuths as theory, it creates theories to explain observations. The wrong picture of what science does is one of the problems for most people dicsussing it like you did.

science is not in contrast with anything beyond the scope of science, but the more successful science explains the happenings around us, the less interesting is the believe that some omnipotent being would act in a way that could be perceived by us humans.

  11. ICD perk is not really a problem with instances, but with invasions.

In an instance the common tactics is to kill one by one of the monsters, surrounding it with your party of fellows. If you manage to do so, ICD is irrelevant.

If you are ganged by several instance monsters and cant diss, then you are dead regardless of ICD perk.

  12. no reason to feel bad about it. My comment was not a complaint, pls dont start to cry.

I just wanted to understand the NEED of that change. And even that i only dared to ask, because it became obvious, that this new feature will probably make the current behaviour much less convenient (imho).

So now i know, that you proposed the change, Raistlin: where is the need ? Is it really only to fill up the space on the bottom right ?

If thats the only reason, then i think its not worth it, just that. And yes i know that Sir Odie does good patches, thx alot for that. Still i think that my comment is a question that should be allowed to ask in order to have the best result in the end.

    regards,

  13. i dont want to sound negative and all programming work is highly appreciated, but in this case i'd dare to question this change.

You know the two programming rules

    - if it aint broken, dont fix it

    - K.I.S.S.

imho most ppl have their skills displayed in the HUD on the right side, where you can turn the (small) progress bars on and off (with the contect menu) and you can select one of them to be displayed at the bottom (with a simple left click!).

Now, i wonder where the need is, to have more than one of those small bars be displayed at the bottom ?

And: is the complicated behaviour (that is discussed here now) not a reason to better leave it as simple as it is, especially if it serves the need of 99% of the players?

so where is the beef :icon13:

  14. This does not violate rule 3...

    this is debatable, i agree.

Now for the rule 19 part....

Can you really consider this a bug? I can see where it could be seen by some as a bug but the PK message is a game feature and the lack of one does not automatically grant it the status of a "bug".

yes i CAN call it a bug and the reason is, that the mods and other responsible people are not tired to explain new players in channels 1 and 2, that the game warns you every time when you enter a pk area. This behaviour makes it a bug imho.

    regards

  15. Gratz you ruined someones day. E_mc2. I personal wish people that take enjoyment on someone else's pain would disappear from the world but I feel there is a special place for people like that in the afterlive, right besides the people that gratz this behavoir. Nitto is a relatively new player. You lured a new player into PK area and took there stuff.

BROD you when I see you :)

What makes you think someones ingame behavior has to be linked to their RL behavior? after all this game is a MMORPG, not everyone wants to play the "let's be friends and have a tea party" roll.

its not necessary to be an a$$hole in RL in order to ruin the fun of a new player, both in game and RL. Its the deed that is judged not the person, but the person is responsible for the deed of his char, being it a chat or a kill. Everything else is just childish justification ....

If you dont play tea party thats ok, but that doesnt justify taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of new players, especially when game flaws like the missing pk msg are involved.

Imho thats just violating rules #3 and #19.

  16. Secondy: Someone could tell me how is this situation different to dug farming dragons with harm? People were mad about that back then and it was changed.

No one still have answered this question.

yes i have answered that question, you might have overread it, so i repeat:

removing all pinning possibilities from the normal dragon spawn regions has my full support.

Everything else you said i disagree with btw.

  17. Last night invasion with Robin Tell. I log in and 3 monsters left. Been like that for a while too. There were few going to take the MBs, but one died due to lag.

Not many fighters take on Ice Dragons either, but surprisingly the Iceys die in invasions the moment someone finds one. No risk.

If they were pinnable, there'd be 0 mobs.

Killing mare bulangiu is a team effort, the way it is supposed to be on top monsters. There are two opinions to this. Those who like some challenge and those who like easy levels. I always thought EL was supporting the challenge.

agreed, but this could imho mean, that we just remove the pinning from dragons, not remove it altogether.

I also don't think that the argument that it is the only way archery is useful is a particularly valid one. Useful is not always about gc per hour or exp per hour. Nor does everything in EL have to be profitable. Whatever happened to just doing something because it's fun and different? Maybe people should look at archery as a sport skill, or maybe some things could be added less abusable. Again, something abused shouldn't stay just because there is nothing immediately available to replace it and provide the drops and exp you all have been getting accustomed to.

agreed, but to have fun in a game, you must be able to achieve SOMETHING, not necessarily profit. Watching the ranging animation alone isnt enough in the long term. Removing pinning would just mean that ranging would not be a combat skill anymore. If we speak of reality: in a wood full of trees i would easily be able to run around and fire some arrows on a huge creature with quite low risk of dieing (at least with some practice). In EL its nearly impossible to fire some arrows like that with any effect, because of several reasons:

    1) distance: its not realistic that i need to come close to such a huge creature in order to shoot an arrow at it. Additionally dragons are not very slow (make them move slower pls, when you remove their pinning!), so with the current long ranging animation, they are way too fast in melee with you when you shoot at them.

    2) hittting: if you finally found a fighter to tank (its rare since most good fighters are extremely profit-oriented) and you are near distance ranging, then you still are missing way too often. Near distance shooting should be more accurate imho (especially when the creature is huge and stands still).

    3) user interface: when you fight melee, you engage, then concentrate on healing, sr drinking (and finally fleeing). When you try to range higher monsters w/o pinning, you have a very complex problem, cause you must observe the map, are hindered by trees and such and still must aim each time you want to shoot, while the monster moves and then you have a recovery time where you cant move at all. It helps to use the minimap, but even there it happens that you click on a place you cant move to.

I never tried that with first person perspective, but i'd guess it doesnt help much. Not even speaking of ranging in invasions, where you flee from one and run into another monster (which caused my last brick in AA when ranging MBs and icys).

So i'd think we'd really need some other changes before removing pinning altogether.

I don't understand... Why you people keep crying "aaa pinning must stay or ranging won't be fun / profitable etc. etc."

Tell me why you can't get someone with higher a/d to tank the dragon while you shoot? I think it would increase the price of dragon scales a bit, make the game more "realistic", add more challenge in killing dragons and especially add some teamwork in game. Just give me good explanation why this is too hard for you rangers?

    for 2 reasons:

    1) the fighters: speak to the fighters, that are able to tank a dragon pls. Like i said above many of them are not interested (like with invasions) and the reasons for that should be discussed in another thread.

    2) the current situation: we havent got enough ppl playing for that imho. When you play at european daytime, then there is often enough simply noone available that is interested or able to help (with invasion leftovers for example). Why not let rangers kill what the other players left over (from the usually at american evening time starting invasions). Its not like any ranger ever took a beast from a fighter...
