  1. Game change announcements on @6

Hey i had a question or comment or note to throw out there, I was wondering why several things in the last 6 months or so have been only announced on channel 6 and not posted in the Game Update section of the forum. I would consider myself a fairly active player as i generally play 5-7 days a week and participate in many different aspects of the game but I do not have channel 6 open as for me most of the time is useless spam and flaming (perhaps this has changed but every time i open it this seems to be the case.) As a crafter in retirement(i'm working on a different skill atm) I was surprised today to find out that harvest meds and such now require turquoise. I generally keep my eye on the game update page and hadn't seen this mentioned and was informed in-game that players were informed via channel 6. This also happened with the release of SRM and MM rings if i recall. So my main question is this: Is there a reason that these changes are announced on a channel that while many frequent not all players have open versus a official forum post that everyone has access to? Thanks ~Elf
  2. Microsoft Surface - tell me more please.

Hey I don't own one but here is a break down of some stats from a reliable site: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/surface-windows-rt-battery-life,3346.html there is another article hyperlinked at the top of that one that give some other stats too hope this helps
  3. Making gold undropable

I might be in the minority with Ghrae here but i think upping the newbie lvl to 40 and keeping the rest of drops the same sounds like a better idea. With the addition of the A/D quests and dailies getting to lvl 40 now is not as hard as it used to be. Plus if when a person dies between the lvls of 0-40 they could be warned with a pop up window with a message like: The council of mages has saved you from dropping any items this time but once you reach level 40 you will have to protect your inventory with a Rostogol Stone or risk loosing some items from your inventory. That being said either solution is fine with me if it helps keep newer players coming back as they don't feel they loose as much when they die.
  4. summoning in combat

Another idea would be when in combat to use mana and AP? Also yes as i've said before in another thread if summon in combat is allowed there should be cooldown
  5. summoning in combat

Perhaps in the summon menu: Walk to Summon Beacon Set Summon Beacon
  6. summoning in combat

This is Elf_Ninja and I approve of this suggestion.
  7. Mage/healer class, reloaded

Question on this would the 5 mana regen be on top of fast regen perk so 8 per min or would it over ride and only give the 5 ep and then 3 hp? so the perk doesn't use pp's would it be some other item used to get it or quest? just wondering how difficult this perk will be to get for a newer player if they are wanting to be a mage class. Also on the armor concern stated above perhaps we would need a diff. nexus to wear mage related items that boost the mages abilities and make it preferable to use for a mage over standard armor? ie: change mage robes to use magic nexus 10 to wear? that way it is possible to wear both armors but expensive in pp's and some pure fighters will find the cost prohibitive were a mage would just use the magic nexus rather then human and finally on the idea above on aura magic effects, if spells are allowed to benefit a group of people around the caster like a group shield or heal, can that be guild based? Some might object to this idea but i think it would help increase the value of a} being in a guild b} having various types of players in a guild for instance/invance/pk purposes instead of just pure fighters. just a thought edit point b showed up as smilie lol
  8. New invance rules discussion

As someone who can do only a few of the monsters in 120+ in melee I range most of the invances I'm in. At the beginning MB's were announced on channel and rangers would come and help but because so many would show up to help, and the divided drops became smaller, I've noticed recently you have to stumble on to a group killing one unless it encroaches on the gate. Not a huge deal but as a ranger I try to go and help all I can on monsters Giant lvl + with pk arrows so if I don't get at least one MB in I loose a lot. I have found certain tanks that will share dragon drops if I stick around and help them (but only once a blue dragon drop) around the map which is nice but generally I loose 1/2 the gc I put into an invance sometimes more if there are more tanks then rangers and I end up ranging many dragons. That being said I don't mind losing some gc for the XP reward I get at the end. That's what I do it for. Over time I occasionally have to take a break from invances tho as I don't always make gc fast enough to replace my arrows for the next invance. But I don't like seeing other rangers walking around with training arrows. If you are a ranger be there to range to kill not to train. Training happens out in the rest of Draia not in the invance. You don't train for a battle when your in one......
  9. Quests

I find this topic very interesting as I recently had a RL friend ask me to show him "that mmo you are always playing". As a note on him he has never really played an MMO before and most of the time we play FPS games together on xbox live. So we fired up a chat line and i started walking him through some basics and then told him to do the tutorial quest to get a feel for the game. after a while he had to leave and hasn't been back on since but through the convo with him i had while he was learning to play i will suggest the following: There are many different types of players and your never going to make a game that satisfies everyone. But you can take steps to include more players that do have differing play styles: A) perhaps an option should be given to a first time player when they create their account as to if they do or don't want a marker telling them where they might find a quest. They could be informed that not all quests will be marked if they select this option but ALL basic quests and some minor supplementary quests would be. b ) (perhaps off topic) a fighter based player doesn't want to harvest they want action. While yes it may be a skill in EL they will want to learn eventually perhaps there should be two separate quests in the tutorial stage: mixer and fighter. I know that EL is in theory a game that has no specific class you have to choose upon starting but offering a person starting the option to either do one or the other or both if they like would be nice. To quote my friend after about the 4th flower he had to harvest: "WTF i know i have to learn the basics but how many flowers do i have to find? when do i start killing stuff?" When he got to start killing rats he was fine, it was fun and interesting again. So can you make a game to please everyone no, can you take steps to include more people? yes. But it's up to the developers and the community to make that happen or decide not to. I find a lot of fault in the idea of "we didn't have markers when i started so we don't need them for others" or "i don't play that way so others shouldn't either" Like others have posted if they want they can get some info on the quests from various websites or if they make it as far as joining a guild they find info there. If we follow that reasoning out to the final end i would have to say things like:"omg vials shouldn't be used for crafting lvling because they weren't there when i started and neither was thread!!@!@!" and the game would never grow or change it would be stagnate forever. All most people need is a place to start. Show them the NPC and they will do the rest they will explore they won't go looking on the web first thing. Most people want to figure things out but if they don't even know where to start how can they have the chance? edit: my point b showed up as a smile lol
  10. android client?

I don't disagree that we shouldn't strive to have el on mobile devices, i'm for that i have devices i would love el on, this would be a continuation of that idea. Yes a computer is optimal for EL, yes a tablet has touch pad input...did you notice that the Ouya also has that? It also has the ability to connect to not just a controller but other input devices. I'm not saying that we have to but if you are going to expand into a new market such as an android based system why not take advantage of all possible outlets: tablets, phones, and console? If your going to take the time to port and test a game engine on a OS what is a few more days to code in some options for possible use on a console vs mobile device? You and i, in fact all current players of EL are on computers that's how we think about the game. But as soon as you put it on a mobile device market you have a different player base that has accessed and experiences the game in a different way then we did for the first time. Who's to say that others can't also enjoy it on a console based platform. If you look at some of the big names in gaming atm like Bungie they are looking for ways to incorporate their next big hit not just on one platform like a console but through all forms of media devices accessed by their player base: phones tablets computers consoles. We might not be big enough to ever think about things like Xbox or playstation, but something like the Ouya lines up with the independent spirit of this game. So yes you already have a PC but the next generation of gamer in EL might access it in a different way....if we are willing to let them.

  12. Ok i had a somewhat random (although I've seen somewhat similar ideas implemented in other games) Idea. It goes as follows: When you log off from el (or possibly manageable though the EL webpage player page) you would be given the option to set your character to mix some low lvl items based on a time variable ie: 1 hour to 10 hours. To be able to do this you would have to: a)have all the ing. and food needed in your sto. b)log out at specific sto's on c1 or c2 (possibly not specific but would have to be at a sto) c)pay a small gc fee based on the time you select Once you have selected your settings while you were logged off your character would mix the selected items with the following penalties: a you receive no xp for the items mixed b)you receive no rare items if these are possible with the item you are mixing c)you have fail rates the same as your normal lvl/astro d)you mix at 1/2 to 1/4 the speed of what is normally possible e)if you cancel your mixing cycle before the timer is up you receive no items Ie: if you set your character to mix for 8 hours and then at the 7.5th hour there is an invance you want to attend and you cancel your mix to do it you don't get anything but failure mixes are still taken out of the ing. put back into your sto. If you log in before your mixing is done you would receive a message box stating that if you click cancel you loose mix, otherwise it tells you the time remaining in a counter. you cannot move unless you click cancel on the box. If you log in after your mixing is done it tells you how many successful mixes you had in a box. So that's the idea yes now maybe so? i would have done a poll but don't see the option in the suggestion forum. PS: i'm not even sure if it's a great idea or not but thought i'd at least let it see the light of day to get it out of my head xD PPS: Also though that if people are interested in having this feature a fun way to do it would be to do a game wide donation quest with items set down by radu to get it implanted to show we really would use it/want it.
  13. android client?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-console So looks like this console will be a reality now was funded in one day lol. I really think we should look at an android version of EL or a mini game of some sort that could go on this market that is EL related would love it.
  14. android client?

http://dvice.com/archives/2012/07/ouya-is-a-100-a.php would be great to get EL running on this if it comes out, with a shop menu included might be popular
  15. A reason to PK

Doesn't have to be coinage of any kind could be a counter bar similar to Action Points, then when you get to X number of points see an NPC to cash out your prizes Many multi PK ideas have been thrown around even Radu suggested something like CTF once iirc problem is a few flamed the thread and it seemed to die out
  16. A reason to PK

I like the idea and have mentioned before that for pk to be successful in any game there has to be a benefit of some sort. Another method similar to this I've seen is to have said arena like above but have so many pk points you can get a day. So say 40 points, If you win a match you get 4 points if you loose you get 1 for attempting. Then at increments along the way you get benefits ie: 10 points you get some gc, 20 points you get some HE or SR, 30 points you get some XP bonus, 40 you get a point towards an achievement or something. You have 24 hrs to get the total of 40 points if you get them then great if not then hopefully you still got to one or two of the bonus lvls and got something. Then it resets and you can try again, the 24hrs start when you enter the arena, then stops after 24 and your personal counter doesn't start again till you enter the arena for the first time after your time limit is up. Just an idea related thought i'd throw it out there
  17. Are you a hardcore player ? :)

Mine is #not on the list so i won't vote lol My answer would be It would really depend on why the wipe happens. A. if it was a server problem and no back up were recoverable then maybe i would stay B. If it was because some fundamental mechanic of the game play was being adjusted and the benefit was to the whole of the EL community to have a wipe then i would stay IE: depleating/renewing resources, harvest xp system changed, way a/d xp was calced changed etc.(random ideas) C.If it was a wipe just to put everyone back to zero and see what happens....i'm gone. That being said if mechanics of the game were changed or we wanted to try something really different for the game i think a better way would be to transfer peoples names and passwords to a new server and wipe them there and give them a chance to try out the new system. If it is truly better it would become the main server fairly fast i think. PS:Can you imagine 300-500 players online at once all having 0 stats attempting to lvl and get spawns? OMG that's my raccoon spawn give it back!!!111
  18. God Please save PK - Summoning Only

One of the things i mentioned in the original thread was that if summoning normal monsters during pk or even allowing the creation of a summon bar like we have for magic would be to then force all summons to have a cooldown time. If all summons have cooldowns then this would prevent the "zoo" that some are referring to while still allowing summoning normal monsters to be relevant in pk, if you have the skill to summon a monster without a stone it gives you a slight advantage over someone who can only use stones making actually lvling summoning more attractive Note: if cooldowns are implemented then summon schools should also be changed to remove the cooldowns for training purposes. Example: Rabbit: cooldown all summons 20 sec. ACW: Cooldown all summons 1:30 These are just rough times an actual formula would have to be worked out.
  19. God Please save PK

Pk... Hummm I like that people are talking about it more then just A/D tweaking, here's my 2 cents: 1. Armor/weapons that are skill specific would be great. Perhaps we need to think outside the normal set up a bit to get them to work for example: Wizard hat: gives magic bonus plus extra ether and slight hp but takes away from A/D lvl to do so like -10 or -15 a/d lvls and you don't receive a/d experience when it's on(as we learned from previous TS effect to be careful of that). or It could take away HP and replace it with ether and magic bonus 2. Summoning: I would love to summon while fighting, I would love to have a summon menu or side bar like you have for magic. perhaps to make this happen i would even say like to see cool-downs* applied to summons(not just stones). A side bar could work that same as magic if you click the icon and don't have the ing. you get a message. Then you could also include gear for summoners that reduce the cool-down time or have a chance of removing it like the ti cuisses of cool-down removal do for pots etc. *Cool-downs could be removed when in summon school for lvling 3. Make PK worth something...: Many other mmo's i've played the pk system has had some benefit to players somewhere. For example something we could do in EL would be a weekly KF tally at the end of every week guild or person with best stats in the formula for owning KF get their guild name or personal name posted as you enter ie: This map is owned by PlayerX. PlayerX or GuildX then get some kind of bonus for that week discounts at NPC, % of gold made by an NPC stationed on the map, something. And it doesn't have to be KF it could be another pk map just as long as people are encouraged through the game itself to compete for glory and gold. I realize that attempts at this have been made through pki and such but players have found ways to trick that and it is now discounted as a means of showing how glorious your battle history is. And suggestions have been made before about making some kind of pk mini game, which might work as well but items and armors and skills need to be fixed before something like that is introduced. 4. Bombs! perhaps for this we could have something like we do with arrows and point defense, an item that once you step on a bomb it will protect your or partially protect you and then disappear from your inv. for example: *Elf_Ninjas ring of explosive negativity- when in inventory it will absorb a local explosion and then disappear into the ether causing whatever damage it could not absorb to harm the carrier. cost- 150gc?(as mines are somewhat expensive defense against them should cost more then PD) stackable Dunno i have lots of ideas but will stop for now and see how this is flamed
  20. PoeticJustice storage sell

    I'll buy the silver
  21. Inspiration

Well since your asking on an EL forum you could do abstract art related to EL like: South Redmoon Sky Lenny's night Glilin's Fire and so on. But you would have to explain some about EL in your artist's statement as a general audience wouldn't know much about EL. Or since you do photography as well as painting you could take a picture and then abstract it in a painting and hang them side by side. Anyways good luck post some final product stuff when your done
  22. Magic Suggestions

Yes but i was looking for something to help balance powerful mage spells vs normal combat in Draia, Gandalf lived in Middle Earth.....otherwise we'd have Hobbits here and then they might get picked on more then the gnomes.
  23. Magic Suggestions

Love idea of improving magic system. Some random ideas: Perhaps to perform certain spells the player would have to be in Sage/Mage mode. In order to enter this mode you can only be wearing mage related items(robes, wands etc.) and not armor or traditional weapons(roleplaying: the metal in the armors affect the ability to cast the spells). Then you would have to shut it off to re-equip regular weapons etc. Another idea is to allow certain spells only to the followers of certain gods ie: Unolas or perhaps Xiao as he had taught his people sand magic. Edit: spellings
  24. Eternal Guild Challenge

Love it always looking to support features that boost up the community in guilds. Some of my thoughts: 1. Perhaps have it divided up into 3 stages or so first stage for >50, second 50-100, third 100+ then guild has members in each of those areas complete their part and then the total time of all three stages are added for total guild time. Each stage could have monsters tailored to it so everyone has fun and still has a chance at beating some kind of boss monster. This way members of different lvls can also get together and do their stage and not have to wait on higher or lower lvl players to log on. dunno if it's perfect but then you have participation on different lvls. 2. Death/member log out penalty? If a member dies then time is added to the overall counter for the guild. Like instance perhaps if they have rosto they re-spawn at the beginning but time penalty still applies. Log out penalty would be for those that log out of battle and don't log back in for 2+ min or that are not logged in when guild raid party beats boss? 3. No special drops....just my opinion lol anyways hope it gets considered in any kind of form lol
  25. Unresolved issue

Hey Kiwi06 wondered why i hadn't seen you in awhile :)Since i somewhat know where you are, are you attempting to log in from the dorm or over the university internet? If so that might be what's blocking you. It might be good to look into Learners proxy service. Not 100% sure that is the issue but it could be. Fast way to try might be to install EL on a laptop try from there then go somewhere else with wifi or a friends house and try logging in from there and see if you have the same issue. If you can't find a friendly wifi connection let me know via forum pm i can have you come up to the bookstore where i work and add you to the wifi to see if it works as i know i can get on EL there. Hope that helps
