Skeptic, Astro, Luck....what forces determine chance?
Learner replied to yethq's topic in General Chat
Actually, the client tells the server "Please try to make an FE", the server decides if you can or not, then decides if you can get an EFE or not. -
I'm only guessing here, but I think that the way it works is if you remove an item from storage, the slot that ir occupied becomes empty; i.e., the items after it are not "shifted down" to fill the hole. Then if you place a new item in storage, it occupies the slot the old one vacated. This means that a "new" item in storage can appear before an "older" one, because it occupied a vacated slot. This theory comes from my trying to rearrange items by removing them and adding them back. Sometimes the order changed; sometimes it didn't. Correct
-
The storage lists are what ever order the items are sitting in storage. There is no sorting done anywhere. The closest thing to sorting is splitting them into the Categories, but their order doesn't get changed.
-
Storage is not actually in Categories. The categories are actually part of the item definition, which is why some items appear in more then one category. This means that a lot of changes would be needed in order for a player to organize storage's differently.

No problem. You gave information I could use and since I've been in the server recently to help with the Forums move was easy enough for me to look into more.

Thank you. Shift refresh without using grease monkey and it should look better. Based on what I saw in the system default, the more proper place was actually ips_common.css

TrackIR: head tracking to allow looking around in game

Most people use minimap as well as press & hold middle mouse button then move mouse sideways to spin the view. -
Search engine with a de-centralized index
Learner replied to The_Piper's topic in Science & Technology
The other part of my point is there are stupid people out there that will miss configure and then do dumb things. The eample is a worst case, but unfortunately is within the realm of possibility. -
Search engine with a de-centralized index
Learner replied to The_Piper's topic in Science & Technology
The wikipedia main page has links to pages with lots of other linkes and those eventually get to articles and then you have see also links and links to the other language sites. You can find a lot just by following links from the main page. -
Search engine with a de-centralized index
Learner replied to The_Piper's topic in Science & Technology
Think of how many people though would be indexing wikipedia every day though. -
Search engine with a de-centralized index

Not only that, but if this becomes popular, just think of how many more additional search engines will be crawling the web and hitting your site. Google at least has mechanisms in place to make sure it's bots don't hit you too often, with this you could get hit constantly by thousands! -
Add option MAX to NPC sold items
Learner replied to Panatella's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
The NPC protocol currently doesn't allow for the client to be able to supply a number, it sends back info only to signify what you have clicked. Server side it gets more complicated by the number of different types of NPC's that can sell you items and how they are coded. Lots of copy/pasting would be needed along with testing. -
Very small requested change for command lines / chat
Learner replied to saxum's topic in Programming
The server change needed wouldn't take very much and I can point Radu at the fix if he wants to do it and doesn't want to think on it to much. Server side it only takes one bit of code in one place to remove all leading spaces from a PM and prevent this error message. -
(highlight mine) Lol! Thanks, I needed a good laugh.
-
Are you saying you were scamming and because of what you quoted that EL shouldn't be involved?
-
In order to buy a bot from another player, you are buying a character. A bot is a character that is also given special permissions and restrictions by Radu to be allowed in game. Also, I would think that buying a character for someone else also falls under now buying or selling of characters.

Actually, if that page is down also, that usually means the connection to the server is bad. While that page is on the same server, it's not handled by the game except to update it. The server machine itself is rarely down, it's usually the connection to it that is down via specific routes.

Put several Red Dragons in there and make it multi-combat .... end of problem. But then end-of-fun for many because of reacting to one greedy person.

For how long? I've been trying to log-in with all the password I can think of and i can't. The last time I played was in December of 2009. Entropy is the only one that can help you with this, contact him via PM.

Have range lock automatically turn off when engaged
Learner replied to saxum's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
Range lock will require a new client to be published and installed. Currently it's not in any client the Entropy is distributing, only some of the special pre-release versions others ship. -
Spam alert! Please think about how idiots would abuse multichannel spamming!

Too many free PP's already available. Not enough of a negative effect for getting any PP!

Blowing the whistle is good ... but I also think Snowden did it the wrong way and still needs to be brought to justice!
