  1. Good idea, Learner.

IMHO some people, excluding me, needs this service. The first example that came to my mind is something I have had in my guild. An ISP has been banned because one of my former guildmates did something (still have no idea what exactly happened, but I know he did something, i guess some kind of DoS attack on the server). The trouble was that we had other players who used the same ISP and could not play EL because of this.

Your Proxy could be used by people who are desperate to play EL in this situation.

There are probably some other possible use-cases I guess.

    Kind regards

  2. So far i do not see any sane reason for me as a player to PAY for citizenship...

Please Radu, just for once, take an idea from a real life. Or all you wish is to drain Draia citizens out of their gold coins...

The idea is realy good, but from what I see realization of it will be very bad, at least from my perspective.

  3. OK, I was thinking about charm attribute these days, and IMHO an excellent idea came to my mind. See, charm is naturally PSYCHOLOGICAL/SOCIAL attribute, and usually people with charm get some benefits from other people they "charmed"...

So CHARM attribute can have influence on (essentially we have a list of possible use-cases below):

    1) NPCs - When You come to NPC for, let's say, buying some things, and your charm level is high, it is VERY LIKELY that you can get some DISCOUNT, PROPORTIONAL to your charm level.

EDIT: After BleedingSoul's PM on EL about this I have realized people can use their alt-characters and exploit this... So I would alter this suggestion little bit - discount should be proportional with CHARM AND OA levels...

    2) When a person with LOWER charm level attacks a person with HIGHER charm level, it is to be expected that attacked (lower charm level) will be more "gentle", and though cause less damage, to other player (with higher charm level). This is also pretty natural thing - Imagine that you have to fight Angelina Jolie just because she is in *CO* guild - You'll naturally be more gentle with her! :D

    3) "Charmers" (wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charmer ) also could have some healing properties. So i think it would be really cool if charmers can simply HEAL persons by laying their hands on patients' bodies, as you can read on wikipedia resource above. Again, the amount of health-restoration should be proportial to charm level.

These three use-cases above are IMHO enough for charm to be a very popular attributes. For an instance I, who have a very low charm level would immediately raise charm level ASAP.

To be honest, charm attribute related to summoning was totally stupid idea. (No offence to original authors).

    Kind regards

  4. Well, it just came to my mind that Google Summer of Code 2007 is opened, so I wanted to suggest to put some of those tough planned parts of the EL project there. Someone might try to do those improvements, and get some money from the Google.

You just need to have some strategy. Some big projects have Wikis/forums where they discuss just what things to submit to this large opensource event...

    Cheers!

  5. Well, if someone good in statistics sees the graph - it is obvious that the avg-line slopes down as time passes by. I think the author's wish is not to show how many good days or bad days were there, but simply to point out that special days are not evenly distributed...

In general it does not matter that much. They are called "random days" anyway - there is the reason for it.

Near To The Blaze I Wander

Through This Black Night I Ponder

The Edge Of Our Mighty Swords Did Clash

Fallen By Our Axes Helmets Smashed

Glory And Fame Blood Is Our Name

Souls Full Of Thunder Hearts Of Steel

Killers Of Men A Warrior’s Friend

Sworn To Avenge Our Fallen Brothers

    To The End

One Day Too I May Fall

    I Will Enter Odin’s Hall

I Will Die Sword In Hand

My Name And My Deeds Will Scorch The Land

Glory And Fame Blood Is Our Name

Souls Full Of Thunder Hearts Of Steel

Killers Of Men A Warrior’s Friend

Sworn To Avenge Our Fallen Brothers

    Sons Of The Gods

    Today We Shall Die

    Open Valhalla’s Door

    Let The Battle Begin

    With Swords In The Wind

    Hail Gods Of War

    Sons Of Odin We Four

    By The Hammer Of Thor

    Ride Down From The Sky

Another Is Born Another Shall Fall

    This Day Men Will Die

    (Narration):

Onward Into The Heart Of The Battle

    Fought The Sons Of Odin

    Outnumbered Many Times

    Still They Fought On

Blood Poured Forth From Their Wounds

    Deep Into The Earth

Vultures Waited For The Broken Shells

    That Once Were Bodies

But Odin Alone Would Choose The Day

    They Would Enter Valhalla

And In Their Hour Of Need

    He Sent Forth Unto Them

    The Berserker Rage

    Now Gods And Men

They Rose Up From The Ground

    Screaming Like Wild Animals

Such Is The Gift Of Absolute Power

No Blade Or Weapon Could Harm Them

They Killed Men And Horses Alike

And All Who Stood Before Them Died That Day

    Hail Gods Of War

  7. Short answer to Shallara: I do not want to waste PP on Artificial Nexus, as I said above. So, I haven't tried to spin thread. This is also related to the problem I am trying to explain...

As I said - I have two "choices":

    1) to get an Artificial Nexus.

    2) not to get it - than i CANNOT develop crafting.

    @Hex:

What if I do not want to develop crafting in order to sell goods to a NPC? You'll agree that "sell to NPC" is not a very positive thing. As I said in previous post - I do not want to go into top-lists. I do not even want to do high-level crafting items. I want one simple item which does not require ANY nexus, which will give me crafting points. There are similar for every other skill, except crafting.

I am out of this thread anyway, after reading Entropy's answer. He stated there that skills are inequal, and there is no planing of changing it, so we have to live with it.

No need for further discussion I guess.

  8. @all

You all missed the point - I was talking about low-level skills. OK, I understand that it is hard to understand me from Your perspective of ever-developing freaks. - My goal is not to be crafter No1, not even crafter No200. Even more, if I want to level crafting by doing basic stuff only, that is MY CHOICE. My point is that there is NO CHOICE except to get the Artificial nexus.

For all other skills there ARE SOME CHOICES, but no for crafting. Plain simple inequality.

    @Ermabwed

Ermabwed, do you want to go "on the Highway to Hell" again? ;D

  9. I wanted to post this critic long ago, but now I have few spare minutes to explain the problem, and I am doing it...

Well, as some of You might have noticed CRAFTING is the only skill in The Game which CANNOT be developed WITHOUT nexuses. Those two nice new ways to develop basic crafting skills (cotton --> thread, and now 1FE+2q. --> vial) both require artificial nexus.

So, my question is - why crafting is discriminated? - Either make it POSIBLE to develop crafting without the need for artificial nexus by, let's say, allowing us to make thread from cotton, or make all other skills (except a/d) to require some nexus...

    Kind regards

  10. That was more or less my reply to Entropy. I admit my post is little bit off-topic. I just wanted to reply to him that it is not more funny to hunt animals than to PK... ;)

More quests will definitely be more funny.

Parties + quests (where many people are going for the same quest, and they help each other) rules. Parties should also be in EL too...

  11. Come on guys, what is the point being suicide maniac going to PK area where one or more top20 a/d players are? ;) It is a few-seconds fight...

Many people gave up playing this game because of so big differences. Yes, You tried to fix this problem by adding PK areas for certain levels - there is still a huge gap which should be filled by PK area for players ~90 a/d.

As person who fights monsters for experience I can say NO, IT IS NOT fun hunting for hours (very often for more than 6 hours) just to get 20% for next level...

Btw. I am playing another game these days, one called Regnum. What I think is fun in Regnum (among other things), and is MISSING (yes, i know about "quests" in EL, but those few does not count) in Eternal Lands, are QUESTS.

So, my suggestion to Entropy is to gather skilled story-writers and make various quests (for various levels of experience, and for various types of characters, so, for an instance hig-level manufacturer can finish some extra-difficult quest, and gather valuable experience points in that skill).
