  1. Bob the Gob

How about labeling Bob the Gob as Bob the Gob?
  2. Bag timer

Is it possable for the bag pop timer to reset when the contents of the bag changes instead of counting down from when the bag is created? Or maybe have a "work area" in storage group to place items whilst storage is open. Obviously both ideas are to assist in manufacturing / alching
  3. Bag timer

    wow thanks
  4. New Suggestions

also, picking up things is the same for everyone some use the scroll wheels or pg up/down to zoom in, try moving off the loot bag to get a clearer shot at it. and I'm sure by now you've realised food is free, but you're probably refering to material points (EL's hit points) there are many ways to increase the regeneration speed and many ways to raise money to buy healing potions. You can view other peoples level if they allow it. I think viewing a charactures level is really only have a effect in pk maps where the effect will be quiet drastic.. maybe was there a door there? did you try right clicking? Ask in game people will be only to happy to help you if you get stuck like that
  5. There are many un mapped area's and although som area's, the underworld for instance, I'd imagin aren't supposed to have maps, maps are available from other sites. I'm also aware that restricting the download size of the installation package is also a priority but like the music aditional maps can be kept seperate. How about adding an unlock feature; each, currently unmapped, area may have a loose scroll (or something) which, once found, unlocks the map for that area. I suppose an unlock feature on the maps woud also prevent area's that are supposed to not have maps from having maps.
  6. unmapped area's

yup finding the maps isn't difficult, and I'd imagin converting the jpgs to game format wouldn't be difficult either just thought creating maps as unlockable as another reason for ppl to search new area's would be like searching for hidden rooms but when you find it you unlock the map. Yes ppl could hack the code and unlock them that way but being open source there are probably many things ppl can do that they shouldn't
  7. I'd like to state firstly that this is by no means an original idea.. Although I understand the need for pk and non pk areas in most designs I think there might be a nice alternative. don't you think it is funny, in a world that attempts to approximate a type of "virtual" reality with extra's (ok we have magic and unicorns etc this isn't an invitation to disguss how this isn't a true likeness to reality) how we are magically allowed to do multi combat in some places and not in others and why we are somehow prevented by some higher power from engaging in pvp in some area's and not in others. So the suggestion is make all area's multicombat and pvp.. But add repercussions for actions in certain areas, for instance, IP is newbie zone, we can't have players popping newbies for cheap thrills.. so although there would be no game mechanics stopping them trying, The wraith who controls this area instantly smites anyone who instigates pvp in IP and being a multi combat area there's nothing stopping the wraith from engaging. In an area like white stone you can have the regents guards, who not only patrol the area but are able to teleport to area's of conflict. As the area becomes more dangerous, lawless, the response can be slower untill you get to completely lawless area's with no response and no "outlaw level" effect (explained in a bit). Guards (even the wraith?) aren't undefetable but would require substantial team effort, high levels, and expensive items... might make interesting battles for the brave! All players who loose to guards will loose their items and the guards will take them, maybe with a system to offer them to the victims, to prevent bagjumping team mates from intervening. Maybe such outlaws can be branded as outlaws and when their level drops enough they become instantly attacked by passing guards and if of a sufficeintly high (or low) level guards will teleport to them if they enter certain maps and/or are attackable by anyone without repercussion.. obviously making more secure areas effectivly no go area's for them.. a system where such outlaws after a period of repent and a good number of good deeds may earn redemtion would be needed.. and obviously access to low security area's from the underworld else they'd never get off IP. such pvp could mean guild maps would be assets to be conquored and defended, whose harvestable assets or monster spawns maybe worth fighting for. Anyway just an idea, it obviously needs work, currently it might be possable for a high lvl naked player to insta pop a newbie before intervention and having no items, have no real penalty other than the outlaw lvl hit! Anyway...
  8. Bob the Gob

lol, I don't think all spawns or any other than bob should get custom names thats just silly. Bob is a personality in Portland, I belive he is even refered to in a quest as Bob.... I certainly havent heard anyone refer to him as anything other that Bob the Gob... he is Bob the Gob I think giving him an official label with the name we all know him as would be a nice touch more than anything of any seriousness... non-pkable... baaad idea!
  9. Global pk area

Global pk in the current system won't work! Aislinn is so right it would require changing the whole game mechanics. Even time flagging won't work; players will simple remove all equipment and log off in some remote place... log back and wait there till the flag has gone. Permanent flagging is a thought but "forces" (nothing forces anyone) players to have alts which would need to interact and are therefore justifiably be illegal. I suppose I would like to see an expanded combat system, might suprise you to know that I'm not a pker, but I belive in balance; one that wasn't just lvls. A combat system that gives someone attacking from behind the bonus they deserve (for example) in both pk and npc encounters (same rules should govern all?).. adds stratergy... not just this example but one where the David and Goliath scenario becomes a possablity.. maybe.. someone mentioned earlier giving ppl various skills on fighting technic, maybe differnt levels of skill, match a skilled unarmed fighter with a lesser skilled guy with a fencing sword and see who wins... mix that with A/D and P/C and you have a combat system with greater depth. Obviously the maths involved is extreme.. I dunno... just thoughts... but I agree, that without a major change there is little point changing the current system
  10. Discussing the Book Prices

9 months on and I'm buying books at 500gc ea... 600gc if they are "expensive" and I'm thinking I coud get for cheaper! Ill do another search see if there is a newer thread on this subject. edit:.... there isn't a newer thread and Roja never did edit his post! I'm gunna guess that a resolution wasn't found. Here's my thought, reduce the number of books dropped by monsters gradually over a period and don't tell anyone it's happening, until a balance is formed... this way a balance is formed and ppl hoarding books can do so and view it as an investment. A controversial method might be to remove excess amounts of books from players, players might complain, but anyone smart enough to hoard them should also understand the need not to make insta millionaires. or change all npc book prices, as right now they are ripping off newbs and are a bit of a joke really. (no hurry for this... I still have plenty of books to get yet)
  11. [RP] Tag

real nice idea. just a thought on colour choice.. if the rp tag colour is "cooler" than the non rp tag colour you might run the risk of some players choosing it for asthetic reasons.
  12. Global pk area

you know I completely agree with you.. always have. My suggestion never proposed a game suitable only for fighters. EL most certainly isn' that type of game. If that is how my idea comes accross then I have truely failed in explaining it. I simply propsed a system where currently safe area's are kept safe by a diffrent game mechanic, not 100% safe.. but sufficiently safe that it is hardly viable to pk in safe areas without a particularly meaningful purpose. And yup ppl aren't 100% safe, but really would any person that has spent time building their char and their assests want to loose anything for the sake of mugging a newb for a few lillacs? Those that do get their kicks that way would soon find themselves broke and/or banished from the safe areas.
  13. Global pk area

Why are you so insistent on changing an entire game's mechanics for an ability that only some people want? What is wrong with the way it is, other than from a roleplay standard? This is the suggestions forum? Ok I'll try again, key words "entire game's mechanics", "insistent", and "only some people want"...you are trying really hard to make EL be something it isn't and wasn't planned to be. This isn't a "suggestion" like "how about more maps" or some such thing. You want a total remake, a whole new different game. I was really only intending to make a suggestion, generate a discussion on possablities it's a pity it has been taken for more. But non the less, are you saying that as the game matures and more possabilities arise that the need for a rewrite will never become necessary? If that time ever comes would you not want to feel that you have due consideration to as many options as possable.. and lets not forget that without seeing and actually understanding host script I can't have any idea on what will and won't require a rewrite I don't even know what to say to that!! err...how about more maps?

  15. Global pk area

this flagging idea is also incorperating 2 game mechanics.. 1 that applies whilest pk flagged and one that applies whilest not pk flagged. My original idea tried to suggest a single game mechanics. Now I don't know the games mentioned earlier that have pk flagging, but I have some recollection there being some type of diffrence in monster drops/rewards that you get while being flagged? why would a monster drop a diffrent thing for one person and something else for another? and if the only benifit of being flaggged is to be able to pk anywhere then I kinda think the current system offers prity much the same thing, just don't leave pk maps... I understand that the mechanics aren't there, but this is a game in developement. Although this was just an example, is there any reason why the wraith couldn't have assistances or even replaced by a char that was interactable but able to use magic over a great distance (the lenght of IP) and given the wraiths body. The outlaw suggestion I ment earier was that, players who engage in pk become pkable, in a similar fashion as leveling up a skill, if they engage in pk activities in SECURE area's (area's that have a guard response.. even low or slow response areas) they get, shall we call them, pk points. Once they get 3 pk points they are freely engagable by anyone (even non pk players if they choose) and passing guards auto engage. If they reach 5 pk points then guards teleport to them when they enter certain area's, effectivly outlawing them in certain area's. In this method it is Lord Luxin's town police that protect the citizens (players) and not a disabled/enabled function, this would mean players are relativly safe within Luxins domain. and as you go further away (map wise) the secuity lessens until the pk maps which are lawless.
  16. Global pk area

yup, I can see it won't happen, I thought I had made it clear that area's that currently are safe from Pk would remain safe from PK. I'd imagin high lvl charactures would not risk loosing expensive (rare) items to engage ppl in safe areas unless it was for a specific reason (warring guilds for instance) and even then risk to loss factors need to be calculated by the engagin party. There is no reason players could not live their whole EL life out without having to ever enter into PVP.. I just suggested a method where all area's have the same game mechanics and aren't safer due to disabled functions.
  17. Global pk area

I disagree with THIS statement. Just because EL offers PK, doesn't mean that is what EL is about. Just as you wouldn't say EL is about alchemy. It offers a variety of options to all players, without forcing them to do things they don't want to do. And that should never change. lol, I really don't want to get into a war of words with you Aislinn because I have read many of your other posts.. I disagree with YOUR statement.. my statement did not suggest "EL is about PK" which is what I think you mistook it to do, it does state that there are sufficient PK area's for PK not to be a dismissable aspect of EL. And my suggestion is to blend these area's into the game instead of having effectivey 4 sets of game rules seperated (as pointed out earlier) by a cave or valley entrance (4 sets are the combination of pk, multicombat and non pk systems)
  18. Global pk area

Thanks, i was worried about getting badly flamed.. it's kinda hard, sometimes, to have a opinion without ppl telling you where to stick your opinion or just simply "go!" But I kinda disagree in your statement, EL offers PK.. sufficeint PK to dismiss "PK isn't what EL is about".. nothing bad in that, All I've suggested is a more balanced (storyline even) method of having pk area's and no pk area's instead of the current "if you step over this line I can hit you" PK system.. admitedly the line in some cases are whole maps.. but these maps are supposedly adjoining landmasses.. part of the same continent.. the ability to PK is simply stepping through a cave door.. the fact that the "virtual" power that is allows you raise you sword against harmless bunnies but not against armed people just seems a tad unbalanced... and the suggestion was just a method of keeping it balanced while not forcing people into PK
  19. Global pk area

Thanks sparhawk, I did look for similar suggestions first, hate repeating posts.. especially ones that get bad responses. I truely agree forcing anyone (let alone everyone) into PK is a bad idea but the idea proposes a method to make area's secure enough to make PK a wholely bad idea even though still possable. how did I know to expect that! Reason for edit: responded to Aislinn
  20. from free to p2p [SOLVED]

ok so I like the game and would like to go p2p. I would like a p2p char but I like my current ingame name. I'm aware of the extra charge to change characture looks. Is it possable to get a p2p char, such as a Draegoni, and transfer my current free play char's name, assets and attributes? If so please could you tell me the process and costs? Thank you
  21. Quest Log

I'm in no dout your working on a better format for the quest log, I though a simple temp solution would be for the client to add a line below the text simply to seperate the entrys. slightly more complicated but along the same lines would be for the client to look at the colour of the previous entry and add the new entry in a new colour.
  22. ?? I think, correct me if I'm wrong, you belive a newbie is actually able to ask a detailed question about Irilion. I understand it is a whole subject on it's own and it is prudent to keep discussions regarding it to a channel of it's own but as a newbie all we're upto at this point is "wow! there's a second continet?... can you tell us something about it?" and our reply to our newbie question is "No, it is off subject!" Do you not see how, to someone with little to no idea about the game, this type of response is a tad harsh? I'm sure there are far nicer ways to appease a newbies curiousity; How are we supposed to know it is "not" a newbie question?
  23. second continent [SOLVED]

What is the second continet? Why are we not allowed to ask about it in the newbie channel? we are newbs we have no idea about it and most certainly non about whatever politics there seems to be surrounding it? Is it part of this game or not? So far the only reason for not disgussing it is it is not a newbie subject.. "nothing is when you already know about it!" but in my opinion as a char that can only kill beavers the mention of gargoyles etc is way past newbie Please, when we ask questions we're just trying to understand what is going on. And so What is the second continent?
