crannog Report post Posted April 1, 2005 (edited) After a discussion with someone i thought about a poss use for keys. Use for the Keys - maybe RARE harvest event and monster drop ? Keys could open some of the locked doors (obviously need maps tho) inside is a chest that gives an item ? (maybe a new item only found this way, plus some normal stuff) and maybe colour coded - silver key - silver lock ? (silver, gold, bronze, iron) (certain colours could have certain types of item perhaps ?)locked doors – maybe colour coded keys ? obviously the person who finds the key wont know where the lock is...so it adds some sort of quest to find it Edited April 1, 2005 by crannog
Ghrae Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I like this. Perhaps one step further: Key drops are even more rare than "Ro" stones. Perhaps 5-10x as rare. They unlock chests as Crannog has mentioned. It would be like the Joker, but the prizes would be much better. In fact, what if the was a chance that the chests would give out a magic sword. Something like 1 in 100 keys would give that out as a prize? The extremely low odds would make it a prize worth winning and keys worth holding on to. This key would be one use only. On another track: what if a certain key (let's say "gold") were also rare (don't know the odds). It would allow you into a locked door as Crannog suggested. This would NOT be one use only. Inside that door (and there could be one door per city in the game) would be a small room with a teleport pad. Stepping onto that pad would take you to the teleport room. Anyway... just some ideas. Ghrae Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I'm beginning to like you Crannog! Although, if Roanoaf (sp?) island, maybe the key is one use only?
Lachesis Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Roanoaf (sp?) Roanof Island. Greetings Lachesis
DrunkenHobo Report post Posted April 2, 2005 I wouldnt mind this change in the game, but we have to decide where we will get these keys, or what exactly will drop them, those who drop cant be hard but cant be easy like rabbits but not hard like orcs, so those who cant fight have a good chance. Where would these keys be retrieved from?
shenriss Report post Posted April 2, 2005 very good idea i think
Paladin Report post Posted April 2, 2005 Great ideea. But think about what monsters will drop it, so it will be the better drop for the harder monster. Those Rostogol stone are now only droped by Trolls, and that's really bad for more high-lvl players. And Fluffy drops are a joke, books that no1 needs and rare capes that you get a lot more on Trolls. So, it should be Ogre-Cyclops for bronze Keys, Fluffy for Silver and Chimeran Wolves for Gold. That should encourage players to team up against chimmies.
Lachesis Report post Posted April 2, 2005 (edited) <_< Alternatively, one could add key building to the crafting skill. Some books teaching how to make certain keys might be monster drops then instead of the keys themselves. I don't see why fighters should always be the only ones that benefit from new features. The_Piper Report post Posted April 2, 2005 Whats about a small chance to find a key in the grass while harvesting flowers or veggies? Why only high leveled monsters? Piper

Lachesis Report post Posted April 2, 2005 (edited) any other ideas ? Yes. Instead of colour codings the keys could have embedded jewels, similar to rings. They could need to be enchanted (mixing with potion or casting spell), they could need to be carved (mixing with water essence, special tool needed). I would like as much skills participated as possible, since all the skills still need some additional items to fill up the higher levels Thank you for summing up, Crannog! Lachesis Addition: Carving would require a manufacturer, molding and embedding a crafter. Enchanting would be done by a potion brewer or magician. Alchemists participate by smelting metal and extracting water essence. Edited April 2, 2005 by Lachesis
obionek Report post Posted April 2, 2005 there are chests in VC in tahrai cave, maybe keys could be used to open them and get random amount of gold/platinum coins/items ? I think keys shouldn't be dopable from monsters(fighters are to rich), it would be nice to: 1. make them random spawn on large maps (WSC) like one every day (on random hour) same way like brs on tahrai or bread on ip is spawned. 2. make them random harvest events. Paladin Report post Posted April 3, 2005 If you make the keys with manu/crafting, we would have lots of them very fast, even if you require an enriched essence of some kind.
