  3. Please check "Lesser Tears" Perk

I would be really interested to see the vial mold results because thats my favorite tool but I once rage quit the game for 5 years after breaking 2 of them in 100 mixes.
  4. Please check "Lesser Tears" Perk

Saxum To continue from our conversation last night, ill be happy to provide numbers because im skeptic and lack the perk. I'll provide my break rate since returning to the game and will provide them as I make more To be fair, using mortars as an example isnt great because they have a horrible break rate already as it is. It would be a bit more realistic, imo, if we look at all the tools even the harvest meds and vial molds. Mortars are simply frail. Reducing break rate by 30 percent of a high breakage rate will stiil give you a bad break rate imo. Correct me if im wrong. If I make 1k spirit restore pots as I stand, I easily break 3 no fail. Actually ill do a bag of 1k ings and consistently drop5 mortars and will store 2 or 3 when done mixing. Ill provide actual numbers when I get back from the gym I stopped buying them actually. I make them at gyp.
  5. Make Alchemy Great Again! ;-)

Let's say Radu agrees with your proposal and changes the recipe to require the EEE instead. Demand will increase for EEE's and the price will skyrocket since there will be a use for them other than a few summoning stones. Then we'll be back to this discussion. I retired my use of an Alembic because they simply break too often. If the alembic recipe utilized gypsum like many of the other tools, I wouldn't care how often they'd break.
  6. Make Alchemy Great Again! ;-)

I'm for having a 'second' formula for the alembic. Even if it were 100 EneE or even a seridium bar I'd make 10 of them. Breaking the alembic wouldn't hurt as much especially if I've only managed to make a thousand sets of merc.
  7. Make Alchemy Great Again! ;-)

I must be playing the game all backwards. I've been harvesting all I need to make my essences. I don't think of cost per ingredient because harvesting them costs nothing but time. Has the play style changed that drastically since I last quit where I'm old school? If I'm about to embark on a 10k LE project, am I a rare player who'll harvest all the ingredients to do it?
  8. The possibility for a "C3"

I know this post is eighteen months late but I've only been back a week after a five year absence. A third continent sounds cool in concept but I'm inclined to agree that the game population is too small. Coincidentally, I've been brainstorming on ways we can increase the population for this game. I care about the world and the people in it. As well as the maturity of it. I intend to publish a proposal within the next month after nailing the details. I'll seek approval from the game leaders. Why next month? I have two very important exams within the next three weeks I've been studying my butt off for and need to pass them. My proposal, if approved, would take some personal time to accomplish and I don't want to take away from my RL pursuits. Very important stuff.
  9. Droid game app

Thanks for the droid app. I've returned to the game after a 6 year absence and the droid app really helps with boredom during meetings.
  10. Auction: Vegetal Removal Stone

Auctioning vegetal removal stone. Starting bid at 825kgc. Happy bidding.
  11. Auction: Vegetal Removal Stone

    Item sold ingame.
  12. Which was your biggest project ever?

I just finished a 1000 silver bar project. That was pretty big. But I'd have to say my 50 matter conglomerate project just before it was a bit of a doozy. That's all more recent. Past ones have left my head outside of the evident pile of steel bars in my storage.
  13. Critical fails in counters

    Nevermind, my bad.
  14. Updated: Kubuntu 10.04 LTS

I just updated my distro to the newest incarnation and I'm having severe graphical lag on the client side. Everything else I run that utilizes gl is smooth as usual. Any settings I should be aware of? I even tried poor man (even though this is a powerful system), and still laggy. I'd like to avoid removal and reinstallation. Let me know what information I should provide to assist in troubleshooting. Thanks.
  15. Updated: Kubuntu 10.04 LTS

No compiz wasn't installed. Just kde4. Well, I decided to reinstall 10.04 fresh and, voila, back to normal. Only one nvidia driver works for my card, as the older drivers don't have support for the new 260 chipset. At least that is what i'm told. The fresh install really solved all the issues. So, that's my fix.
  16. Updated: Kubuntu 10.04 LTS

I've backed up my home directory in the event I decide to install 10.04 fresh. Anyway, I also removed the video driver, rebooted, reinstalled it, rebooted... Still having a severe lag issue.
  17. Updated: Kubuntu 10.04 LTS

Distro: Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS Kubuntu (upgraded from Karmic last night) MOBO: ASUS P5Q CPU: Intel Q8300 Core 2 Quad Mem: 6gb Video: GeForce GTX 260 896mb DDR3 INI file Error Log No errors were noticed other than missing ATI plugin but that's expected. I have no idea what to look for otherwise. I was getting >120fps under normal conditions before the OS update. Now it's around 50 and it's choppy video. It's definitely not 50fps despite what it says. If I lower my camera angle to see the area around my character, it drops to 0-2 fps. And it'll freeze too. The game is basically unplayable at this point. Any advice would be appreciated.
  18. I second that. The MC's and vial molds should have their own graphic. However, tisn't critical.
  19. Harvester medallion

What's the logic? After my second medallion breakage, I griped to some friends about the issue and it was suggested that it try it a few more times to get an idea about the break rate. It was suggested that my luck sucked and that I should try it ten times for a more accurate sample space. I read on the forums to only use them during xp periods, otherwise I'm just asking them to break. Prior to this, I had an assumption that there would be some benefit to wearing one, considering the high opportunity cost. I've gone through ten medallions. Below is a breakdown over my experience. Unfortunately, I don't have any accurate xp or gold numbers because the client crashes quite often. Medallion 1 Broke the same day Survived 2 harvests of t.shroom. Broke on the third harvest of gold ore (wall caved in) I should've known better than to wear a harvester medallion while harvesting Medallion 2 Broke after 1 day Forth harvest on tree shrooms (nature decided I was having too much fun i guess) Medallion 3 Broke after 2 days Harvesting tree shrooms (teleport) Medallion 4 Broke the same day as med 3 First harvest of shrooms (nature got pissed) Medallion 5 Broke 10 minutes after medallion 4 Same harvest as med 4 on shrooms (I was pissed) Medallion 6 Broke 3 days later Bought it right after medallion 5 broke Harvested tree shrooms (Nature got pissed) Medallion 7 Broke 1 day later Harvesting sulphur (wall caved in for 30 damage) I wasn't surprised since tree shrooms are very effective medallion killers Medallion 8 Broke 4 days later Harvesting tree shrooms (teleport) I'm seeing a pattern here Medallion 9 Broke 3 days later Harvesting tree shrooms (hurt myself while harvesting) Medallion 10 Broke 1 day later Survived twelve loads of cotton harvesting, mini events galore. This probably brought the med to its doom. Harvesting tree shrooms (teleport) Total Cost of medallions: ~80k (prices vary depending on http://bots.el-services.net) Total XP from blessings: ~40k (liberal estimate) Breakages: 8 times on tree shrooms, 1 time on gold ore, 1 time on sulphur. Nature blessings happened five times (two within five minutes from each other). My counter lacks an accurate record due to the crashes. The blessings ranged within the 7k xp range. So, we're talking roughly 40k xp from blessings. This saved me 5 harvest periods with shrooms, or an hour of harvesting time (12 minutes per cycle). Considering the cost of the medallions at 7.5kgc/ea on average, the xp boost cost me 1.88 gold per point. That's expensive. I'd rather buy xp from an npc in exchange for gold, just kidding. With the way the events play out, stepping away to take out the garbage or use the bathroom usually means that something will stop the harvest anyway. With my luck, it's usually seconds later, not minutes. If the medallion is secretly meant purely for wealth distribution, I'd say it's doing the job efficiently. Otherwise, the marginal utility for the harvester medallion is negligible. It seems that the harvester medallion is suitable for four types of players: high level crafters (high enough to encounter a low crit rate) players with excesses of game gold players who come across a death bag via item trade
  20. 1.9.0 Linux question

For those on ubuntu, 1.9 is available on the repository. Do you want us to do a complete remove of the app or does the deb package take care of that by default during an update?
  21. 1.9.0 Linux question

Sounds great. I will do just as you say. Yes, and I use your repository linked off this site, which is very helpful. The 1.9.0 available in the repository is still the release candidate (-rc tag). I'll update to the final release this evening so you might as well wait until then. The package update will automatically, completely remove all the old data files and executables. However, it will only remove files that were installed by the earlier package. So, if you added extra files into the data directory yourself, they will remain after the update and you must remove them yourself. If this is the case, I suggest you to the update in three steps. 1) Remove the old packages. 2) Check the data directory /usr/share/games/EternalLands/ and remove anything that's left. 3) Install the new packages. If you follow these steps, the music and sound packages will be removed too but just reinstall then; the bulk of the download will have been cached in /var/cache/eternallands/ so it will be very quick. If you have placed additional files like tab maps in ~/.elc/updates/1_8_0 (as suggested) then you will have to manually copy the files to ~/.elc/updates/1_9_0/. Be very careful what you copy over! All this is only true (including the update today) if you are using the packages I build - the ones linked from the main EL website download page. If you are using the playdeb packages, while they are based on my packages, they may work slightly differently and I do not know when they will be updated.
  22. Teleports your bag to storage. Maximum one unique item in bag, unlimited quantity.. Spell disabled during combat. Sigils: Move, Space, Matter, Global, Knowledge, Magic Reagents: 20 Matter Essence, 20 Energy Essence, 20 Magic Essence, 20 Air Essence Required Magic Level: 55 Required Alchemy Level: 60 Required Nexus: 6 Inorganic, 6 Magic Magic Experience: 650 Mana Subtracted: 80 Argument: Too convenient Response: It's a high level spell for a high level mage. There exists two other spells involving teleportation. Rings are used to teleport players instantly to many maps and it requires zero mana or skill (anyone can use them). Now that's convenient. Honestly, I levelled up magic so I could use the teleport room. I prefer magic over rings. Argument: High chance for abuse. Response: The mana drain alone would require one to drink tons of potions to fill it back up. In most cases, it would be a one-use-per-trip spell. Disable the spell during combat. Argument: This gives high level characters too much advantage. Response: As opposed to all the other advantages that come with being a high level character? This gives players levelling up an incentive to do other things other than combat. It may also create a market for some lightly used essences. Either way, high level characters earn advantages. That's the point. Thanks
  23. Community Armory

I would be glad to assist by donating a portion of the items I manufacture ingame. Especially the leather armor.
  24. Harvester medallion

I bought my first medallion last night. It lasted 6k worth of harvest before it went bye. I bit the bullet and bought another one. I harvested 150 blue quartz, then two separate sessions on tree shrooms and it died. Not even 1k units. It broke on tree shrooms. So yeah, what a waste of gold. 12k gone. That's alot of gold for a player of my level to dump on nothing. I'll advise anyone in my guild to save his/her gold on something useful and to not fall for it.
  25. Yay for skeptic!

Just before I paid the 30k for the skeptic perk, I attempted to make 20 empty vials. at a crafting level of 17, i crit 11 times, so it was 45% success rate. I bought skeptic Attempted another 20 vials as a test. 19 successes... Enough said.
