Kami Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Currently, you start Crafting with Gold Rings. Not only is that not reasonable but it's also expensive! How about adding in a Minimal Item before Rings. Like Bone Charms: Items needed: 10 Bones, 3 Thread Items required to have: Needle Knowledge needed: General Crafting Required Nexuses: 0 Recommended Skills:0 Base cost: 3 gold Weight: 10 Exp Gained: 5 Something to Start with. You could also make them where only one NPC will buy them just to keep form recycling the Money going into them. Then make that NPC in some far away corner of a map and make up a story about that NPC. Make him a Tribal Shaman of a Tribe currently living on the Continent. We need more character’s in this game with more variety then just the Medieval/Semi-â€Civilized†cities there are now. Just something New!
Lyanna Report post Posted November 22, 2004 (edited) Can you suggest a purpose for the Bone Charm, as well as the other items you plan on including before the Gold Rings? -Lyn- Edited November 22, 2004 by Lyanna
Enlia Report post Posted November 22, 2004 If it's to be a tribal/more primitive themed area of crafting, I would suggest that you could construct bone charms that provide a one-off bonus on fighting specific animals e.g. +5 att or def against Wolves. The Shaman can provide instruction on how to construct each type of charm. To vary the charms, specific items from the animal must be used (e.g. for a Wolf Attack Charm you need 5 bones, 2 wolf pelts & 3 threads, for a Deer Defence Charm you would need 6 bones, 1 antler, 1 deer pelt & 5 threads) This would make it a useful item for newbies to construct in crafting, as well as useful for fighting against the lower level critters. Carrying on the theme - you could have a next level up of specific animal necklaces/medallions which would maybe require quartz crystals as well as the specific animal items. (The thinking here being beaded charms - e.g. amulet bags) These would either give a higher stat increase, or last for multiple charges (don't know if this is possible within the current game system). A final level, prior to the rings/medallions would be amulet bags themselves, constructed from leather, quartz (or higher crystals e.g. emeralds). These could be low level versions of the medallions available at the moment. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but I liked the idea & had a couple of ideas for expanding on it
wilvin Report post Posted November 23, 2004 I agree crafting need some low lvl things to make. As far as I know it is the only skill you can can start right off doing. You have to learn several things from books before you can even start making even low lvl rings. Then for the silver or gold rings you have to learn mining and other things unless you buy the gold/silver. Then you have to have a high lvl in alchemy to get bars. I agree there should be more uses for bones. Look at the newbie isle bags everywhere with only bones left in them. Potions is another area that newbies can not really start, since you have to have money and quartz to get bottles. Why not for potion before lvl 10 you can buy bottles with out having to know how to mine quartz. Then potions after lvl 10 you need hand crafted bottles that you can make with the alchemy skill. say 4 quartz, 1 fire essence. Also for some potions can add another essence to making the bottle to give a boost to the potion. say for a healing potion have the normal recipe then for the bottle have 4 quartz, 1 fire ess, and 1 life ess. restore full health and locks the heath for 30 seconds, so if fighting a tough monster you can have a slight boost. Hammen Report post Posted November 23, 2004 I agree with the statements about crafting, but not about potions. A mana potion costs 5 gold. Drink it down and you have your empty vial. It would be cool to be able to make empty vials though. Anyways, for crafting, the bone charms dont have to do anything. Remember that the Fox Scarf is useless.
