Following in the tradition of the raffles in the past Nine years, *PR* have once again taken the reins to bring you this event. The guild – along with many allies and friend have been working hard in the background since the last raffle. Last years raffle was such a huge success, thanks to you all, and I hope we can match it this year.The Cause: Cancer ResearchIn the UK 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime. While survival rates are getting better all the time, we still lose too many people to this horrible disease. In the USA, according to the cancer research data – 1 in 4 deaths are due to cancer. Money raised from this raffle will be donated to The American Cancer society. The last few years we have split the money between the USA and UK charities, however with the UK charities making it very difficult to donate via paypal, we have decided to just send it all to the one place! Cancer is something most of us have been, or will be, touched by at some point in our lives. My Mum and my Uncle both made a full recovery, but I do remember the fear and confusion I felt as I was only 16 when my mum was diagnosed. My dad lost his battle with cancer in 2008, just 6 weeks after the diagnosis and two of his brothers have since been lost to this most hated of diseases. This year we have lost so many of our wonderful celebs to cancer and just 6 short weeks ago my beautiful great-aunt lost her battle, a mere 2 weeks after diagnosis. As players we have all lost some wonderful and truly amazing people from game, I will not name any as I would hate to miss anyone off the list accidentally, we all know who they are and we still talk about them all the time. And there are players now who are fighting hard, showing us all what true strength is. It is for all these reasons that we have chosen this cause again this year. K&M has already been planning our contributions and i'm sure we'll have lots of fun trying to mix up some great prizes. You're so right that we've lost many great celebs to Cancer this past year and that we're always talking about our friends & family both in EL and RL who lost their lives to Cancer. We remember them all at this time of year... Seen as this is the 10th Anniversary of the Raffle - LETS MAKE THIS ONE THE BIGGEST YET! Last year we got 30M gc worth of prizes, over 500 tickets sold, over 80 ticket holders and $2,765 raised... So I guess that's our target! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
