Elssar Report post Posted April 13, 2011 Didn't know where to put this, don't even know if this is a bug. Last month I got a 2mbps connection which is a serious upgrade from my usual 256kbps connection. So I thought EL would run a little faster, but instead it seems slower that it used to be & lags more. Today I tried a traceroute to see if there was a problem with any of the hops, but after the 13th hop - ae3.tcr1.vix.vie.as8218.eu (83.167.56.153), I started getting garbage. I asked a friend what it was & he said it was MPLS(Multiprotocol Label Switching). That shouldn't be a problem but it seems that the packet never reaches the game server. I kept getting garbage for the next 40+ hops, and I remember from an earlier traceroute I ran, it takes 20something hops to reach the game server. Here is the traceroute data & I will keep it running to see how many hops it takes. traceroute to game.eternal-lands.com (213.152.3.5), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 2 ABTS-North-Static-157.130.160.122.airtelbroadband (122.160.130.157) 20 ms 18 ms 19 ms 3 ABTS-North-Static-149.130.160.122.airtelbroadband (122.160.130.149) 18 ms 18 ms 19 ms 4 203.101.83.197 (203.101.83.197) 18 ms 19 ms 19 ms 5 203.101.100.22 (203.101.100.22) 59 ms 59 ms 59 ms 6 115.248.226.22 (115.248.226.22) 62 ms 61 ms 61 ms 7 115.255.239.13 (115.255.239.13) 62 ms 64 ms 62 ms 8 62.216.147.101 (62.216.147.101) 129 ms 131 ms 129 ms 9 so-0-1-0.0.pjr02.ldn001.flagtel.com (85.95.25.137) [MPLS: Label 299888 Exp 0] 302 ms 298 ms 299 ms 10 so-1-0-0.0.cjr02.ldn004.flagtel.com (85.95.25.10) 297 ms 299 ms 297 ms 11 Linx1-10g.thn.lon.as8218.eu (195.66.224.42) 330 ms 331 ms 330 ms 12 xe1-3-0.tcr1.th2.par.as8218.eu (83.167.63.231) 326 ms 325 ms 327 ms 13 ae3.tcr1.vix.vie.as8218.eu (83.167.56.153) 324 ms 325 ms 326 ms 14 * * * 15 * * * 16 * * * 17 * * * 18 * * * 19 * * *

Nothing you or EL can do about that problem directly. Try a traceroute to proxy1.other-life.com and see what that looks like. If it looks good, then using my proxy service is an option. Otherwise you need to either just wait or contact your ISP and see if they are willing to try to do anything about it.

Tried it, got the same thing after the 13th hop - loopback.ir3.gsl2.tagadab.com (78.40.32.125) 197 ms 203 ms 196 ms, again. Thanks though
