Traceroute went to MPLS

Didn't know where to put this, don't even know if this is a bug.

Last month I got a 2mbps connection which is a serious upgrade from my usual 256kbps connection. So I thought EL would run a little faster, but instead it seems slower that it used to be & lags more.

Today I tried a traceroute to see if there was a problem with any of the hops, but after the 13th hop - ae3.tcr1.vix.vie.as8218.eu (83.167.56.153), I started getting garbage. I asked a friend what it was & he said it was MPLS(Multiprotocol Label Switching). That shouldn't be a problem but it seems that the packet never reaches the game server. I kept getting garbage for the next 40+ hops, and I remember from an earlier traceroute I ran, it takes 20something hops to reach the game server.

Normal internet routing type problem. Nothing you or EL can do about that problem directly.

 

Try a traceroute to proxy1.other-life.com and see what that looks like. If it looks good, then using my proxy service is an option. Otherwise you need to either just wait or contact your ISP and see if they are willing to try to do anything about it.

Tried it, got the same thing after the 13th hop - loopback.ir3.gsl2.tagadab.com (78.40.32.125) 197 ms 203 ms 196 ms, again.
