Fedora Report post Posted December 31, 2007 I often check the "today active posts" page to stay updated with the EL forum community and I find it very useful for learning things. It also influences the game a lot (NMT price dropping during the poll to make it breakable, no need for resetting a bad build with the incoming cap, rationality & magic and so on). I also made a script to inform me about new posts so i dont need to switch from EL to firefox. I was wondering if a similar feature can be added directly in the client. Like a button somewhere (blinking for new posts) to open a window listing a few information (topic, starter, category, last post, clickable url). This will need: - Server side support like a dinamic generated text file with necessary information accessed once every n minutes (not much bandwith i guess). - Client side: retrieving the file, parsing it, a button and a window. If the idea gets approved I can volunteer to program the client, but most probably not for the January update. In the meanwhile, happy new year!
