Do you own an ATI card and fancy some free games? Well now is your chance. All you need to do is head over to Steam to pick up your free game.

With most publishers nowadays making you pay for nearly everything they produce, from map packs to small expansions; you hardly get anything free in this day and age. But this doesn't seem the case with one of the world's biggest game distributers, Steam.

Recently, Steam have introduced a new scheme in conjunction with leading hardware designers, ATI, that entitles any ATI card holder a free game. Does this seem to true to believe? Well just this once, it isn't; the offer stands.

From Steam themselves:

May 30, 2007 - Valve, a leading entertainment and technology studio, today announced plans to deliver free games to all owners of ATI Radeon graphics cards via Steam, a leading online platform for the distribution and management of digital content.

Effective immediately, all owners of ATI Radeon graphics cards may receive a free copy of Half-Life 2: Lost Coast and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch via Steam, . Steam will automatically confirm the presence of ATI Radeon hardware and then enable immediate access to full versions of the games free of charge.

For added convenience to new purchasers of ATI Radeon products, Steam will be included in all ATI Catalyst Software and Driver packages through early 2008.

And, as recently announced by AMD, customers who purchase the new ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT will also receive, upon release via Steam, the highly anticipated trio of new games coming from Valve: Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

Some conditions apply. Customers will be required to download and install the Steam software, and will require an Internet connection.

This looks like an offer a lot of people won't refuse. It also demonstrates the strength of steam, as they now grow even larger, with the emmergance of an apparent new partner, in AMD/ATI, undoubtedly one of the biggest computer hardware companies around. We look forward to see what future benefits ATI customers will gain.
